Tottenham's crucial transfer window target as Antonio Conte gives foolish warning

Your Tottenham Hotspur morning round-up for Saturday, August 13.

Contract news and a crucial target

In a football.london Q&A, our Spurs writer Alasdair Gold was on hand to give back plenty of detail on the transfer window, including this key answer on which contracts would be worked on:

"With two years left on their deals, Harry Kane and Eric Dier will be the priorities. Decisions will have to be made on Davinson Sanchez, Matt Doherty and Lucas Moura, with the latter having an option to take his deal up to 2024.

"Then after that it's a case of looking at the contracts of those with slightly longer left but who have performed well and deserve new deals as the season goes on. If Ryan Sessegnon can continue to remain injury free then he could be in that category as could potentially Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg if he stars this season."

Conte's 'foolish' warning

Antonio Conte has said that Tottenham would have been foolish to not engage in transfer activity like they have this summer.

So far Spurs have made six summer signings and started the season with a standout 4-1 victory over Southampton. Conte didn't use any of those from the start though, and said: "You have seen the first game we played with the same players from last season but for sure we're better than last season.

"We have a squad with a number of players, more reliable than last season. We improved the quality because you know when you play every three days you need to make rotations."
