Tottenham revive interest in Everton star Anthony Gordon as Fabio Paritici faces January problem

Tottenham's interest in Anthony Gordon was well documented over the summer transfer window, but the side weren't able to land the promising young forward from Everton. With the January window now open, it appears as though that interest has not waned for Director of Football Fabio Paratici.

That's because Sky Sports News editor Lyall Thomas has claimed - via the Last Word on Spurs podcast - that the 21-year-old is still on the radar of the Lilywhites during the current market. Paratici is said to "love" Gordon, making him a potential option for their ranks in the coming weeks.

It comes as Antonio Conte has to juggle his current attacking options within the squad as absences for the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison have hit him hard.

"The situation is clear and I think you can see our situation from the start of the season," Antonio Conte said on his forward situation. "We have up front we had Bryan Gil who played a good game but he’s a young player, and you need to give young players time to become stronger physically."

With such absences as well as key players out of form, a move for Gordon may make sense, however the same issues have arisen over a deal in January that surfaced last year, namely the asking price, with rivals Chelsea seeing an offer of around £60million turned down for his services in the summer.

“He is our player, he will remain that for a long time, and I think we showed that with our intention in the summer," Everton boss Frank Lampard said earlier this season. "He’s got two and a half and a bit more left [years on his contract]…so I remind him of that sometimes!"

However, the Toffees' struggles in the Premier League may change things as January could prove to be a huge chance for them to reinforce the squad and move clear of safety. A sale may be required for that, though on top of that there's also reports from the Sun that claim contract talks between Gordon and Everton have stalled, although his current deal does run until 2025.

It remains to be seen if Spurs will test their Premier League rivals' resolve with an offer, but it could be costly if they do land him in January.
