Tottenham ready to listen to offers for eight first-team players including £55m flop

Tottenham are reportedly ready to listen for offers for as many as eight of their first-team flops in a bid to keep Antonio Conte at the club.

Conte has frequently made it clear that he believes a major overhaul is needed at the Premier League side during the summer transfer window. There have been some questions about Tottenham's readiness to commit to such a strategy.

With those doubts in place, it was thought that the fiery Italian may depart after less than a year in charge, given his notoriously demanding style. But it appears that club chiefs are now moving to follow Conte's advice and embark on a summer of upheaval.

According to the London Evening Standard, managing director Fabio Paratici has been 'ferverishly' drawing up plans for the summer in an attempt to provide Conte with the assurances he needs to stay. While Conte is focused on signings, Paratici said to be 'conscious' that offloading unwanted players will be just as important.

It is stated that the former Juventus executive is aware of the club's previous failure to move on players on the fringes of the squad. He is also keen to ensure that anyone who leaves does so in a 'timely manner' ad for the right price.

Paratici is said to be ready to aid in the exits of as many as eight players, who Conte is willing to see leave. The first of that group is Steven Bergwijn, who has already opened the door to a return to Ajax.

While Bergwijn will likely be fairly easy to move on, the other players who Conte considers surplus to requirements will face a harder challenge to leave. Harry Winks could push for an exit following his lack of playing time and the fact that Conte is likely to target a new midfielder.

There is also set to be no place at Spurs for Giovani Lo Celso, despite the Argentine having helped loan club Villarreal to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. The midfielder is expected to attract interest, but Spurs will find it a 'challenge' to recoup the fee they paid Real Betis for him in 2020.

Lo Celso is not the only hit Spurs are likely to take this summer, with record signing Tanguy Ndombele also set to depart. His performances at Lyon have been decidedly mixed, with Spurs unlikely to be able to recoup much of the £55m they paid for him.

But it is in defence where there will be the most upheaval, with Paratici ready to 'listen to offers' for five of Conte's backline options. Davinson Sanchez has spent five years at the club, but Spurs are now ready to cash in.

The Colombian has never truly convinced in the Premier League though, with left-back Sergio Reguilon also at risk of being given the boot. Perhaps surprisingly, Emerson Royal is another Spurs are ready to sell, despite the Brazilian having only spent one year at the club.

That trio are likely to return to Europe, though the tight financial situation at many clubs on the continent makes high fees unlikely. Similar to those three, Joe Rodon has also struggled to adapt to the Premier League since making the step up from Swansea.

The Welshman has struggled for game time and will likely be avaliable for a cut-price fee given his lack of action. To round off the firesale, Spurs could allow both Lucas Moura and Matt Doherty to depart, though both have enjoyed their time under Conte.
