Tottenham ‘playing like Stoke City’ with Antonio Conte’s tactics, says Peter Crouch

Tottenham's tactics under manager Antonio Conte have been compared to Stoke City by former player Peter Crouch.

Spurs have lost just two of 11 games this season but their performances have prompted criticism after a number of unconvincing displays.

Away in Frankfurt in the Champions League on Tuesday night, Spurs produced an improved performance but were unable to turn their chances into goals as Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Richarlison were all guilty of a lack of quality in the final third.

Conte after the game said he was pleased to see his side creating chances but called on them to be more clinical. Crouch, however, feels the problems lie in the manager's approach.

"I’ve played this way at Stoke," Crouch said on BT Sport.

"Tottenham have got enough players to not play this way, I think they can be a little bit more expansive.

"But if you do play this way, you’ve got to get out to people, you’ve got to get out to the ball, it’s got to be more progressive, it’s got to be with more aggression."

Spurs are next in action on the weekend at Brighton.
