Tottenham player ratings vs Nottingham Forest: Kane the hero, Richarlison impact and Son poor

Hugo Lloris

Saved well from Lewis O'Brien midway through the first half and did very well to palm away Morgan Gibbs-White's low cross with Jesse Lingard lurking at the far post. Strong display from the shot-stopper. 7

Davinson Sanchez

In the team once again with Cristian Romero absent and made some good blocks and clearances throughout. Another clean sheet for the Colombian. 7

Eric Dier

Coped well with the Spurs backline under pressure numerous times as Forest caused them plenty of issues with some lively play. 7

Ben Davies

Up against it at times with Wales international teammate Brennan Johnson wreaking havoc with driving runs but defended well on the whole. 7

Emerson Royal

Some sloppy play on a few occasions but had a few runs forward and didn't really have an impact in the final third. Defended well when called upon. 6

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Some good defensive work from the player in the opening ten minutes as he got back and denied Johnson a chance on goal, before producing a superb block to stop Ryan Yates' shot testing Lloris. Also teed Harry Kane up with a brilliant pass in the first half. Battled well throughout in another good showing. 8

Rodrigo Bentancur

Kept the ball ticking over when in possession but didn't stand out with his play as he has done on a number of occasions since his move from Juventus. 6

Ivan Perisic

Spent a lot of his time defending but had a couple of runs into the final third and showed his quality, notably after the break when he put in a good cross from the left that Steve Cook handled as Spurs were awarded a penalty. Made way in the closing stages for Ryan Sessegnon. 7

Dejan Kulusevski

Got an early assist to his name as he played in Kane with a clever ball despite having options to his left in more space. Did likewise after the break to tee up Son Heung-min, before seeing a shot of his own blocked after cutting in from the right. Very bright showing from the Swede. 8

Harry Kane

On the scoresheet with five minutes on the clock as he found the bottom corner with a low effort despite not getting the best connection on it. Had a great chance to double his tally ten minutes after the break but saw his penalty saved by Dean Henderson. Thankfully atoned for his miss with a simple header from close range in the final ten minutes. 8

Son Heung-min

Named in the starting XI on the seventh anniversary of his Tottenham move and went close to ending his goal drought with a fine curling effort that went narrowly over. His low confidence was summed up when he went through one-on-one vs Dean Henderson and missed his attempt as he tried to chip him, with the flag going up for offside not long after. Not at his best once again. 5

Substitutes

Richarlison (Son Heung-min, 73)

Came on to give Spurs more energy in attack with the team having a number of chances on the counter. Made a huge impact with a sublime cross in using the outside of his boot to put the ball on a plate for Kane. Got a whack late on when juggling the ball to waste time. 8

Ryan Sessegnon (Ivan Perisic, 73)

Got his cross all wrong leading up to Spurs' second but thankfully it didn't matter with Kane converting seconds later. 5

Yves Bissouma (Dejan Kulusevski, 83)

Brought on for the final few minutes to help see out the game. N/A

Djed Spence (Rodrigo Bentancur, 90)

On the pitch for a matter of seconds and had a great chance to score. N/A
