Tottenham player ratings vs Newcastle: Pedro Porro superb and Heung-min Son lethal on big day for Richarlison

Tottenham emphatically returned to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over Newcastle, thanks to a Richarlison double.

Destiny Udogie opened the scoring from Heung-min Son's cross with his first goal for the club and the Spurs captain also squared for Richarlison before half-time.

The Brazilian got his second after the break to kill off depleted Newcastle before Son won and converted a penalty after being brought down by Martin Dubravka.

Newcastle scored a late consolation through Joelinton after Spurs were caught in possession.

Here's how we rated the Tottenham players...

Guglielmo Vicario 7

Got down well to save from Miguel Almiron in the first half but was powerless to stop Joelinton's late finish. Assured with his feet.

Pedro Porro 9

Increasingly feels underrated as a creative force. Involved in many of Spurs' best pieces of play and made Richarlison's second goal with a superb pass.

Cristian Romero 7

Nearly scored again but Almiron cleared his header off the line. Added menace and poise to the back four and was excellent on the ball. Guilty of a nasty planting his studs on Callum Wilson which might have landed him another red card and a four-game ban.

Ben Davies 8

Prevented a certain goal with a crucial touch on Anthony Gordon's cross at 0-0 in another solid defensive display. Played out from the back well.

Destiny Udogie 8

Produced the perfect demonstration of what Ange Postecoglou wants from his inverted full-backs with a one-two with Son for the opening goal.

Yves Bissouma 8

With Sarr alongside him again, he looked full of confidence and trickery again and helped Spurs to control the middle of the park.

Pape Sarr 7

Might have doubled Spurs' lead from Johnson's cross but dragged his shot wide from a good position. So energetic and the team is better when he plays.

Dejan Kulusevski 7

Back at No10, the Swede drove Spurs forward in possession and was composed on the ball. Crossed well for a good Son opening in the second half.

Brennan Johnson 7

Twice struck the woodwork as he came so close a big moment but lucky he was not punished for a loose pass when Vicario saved from Almiron. Looked happier back on the right and nearly had an assist with a cross for Sarr too.

Heung-min Son 9

Made Spurs' two first-half goals with some lethal wing-play, twice beating Kieran Trippier and crossing before winning and converting the penalty for 4-0. Justified Postecoglou's decision to move him back out wide and was outstanding in transition.

Richarlison 8

Twice finished calmly in the box for his first Spurs' goals with his feet, suggested he can add the clinical edge missing from the team in recent weeks. A potentially big night for the Brazilian.

Subs

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Sarr 73) 5

Lost possession playing out in the build up to Joelinton's consolation goal.

Giovani Lo Celso (Richarlison 73') 7

Tidy on the ball as Spurs closed out the game.

Bryan Gil (Bissouma 86') 6

Got on the ball a few times in dangerous areas in the closing stages but his final ball was missing.

Oliver Skipp (Johnson 86') 7

Forced a late save from Martin Dubravka.

Jamie Donley (Son 90') N/A

Another late cameo.

Not used: Forster, Emerson, Veliz, Dorrington.
