Tottenham player ratings vs Man City: Kane hits record goal with Emerson and Hojbjerg superb

Hugo Lloris

Made a couple of comfortable early saves but didn't have many serious ones to make as the defence kept City at bay. 7

Cristian Romero

Picked up a yellow card for a needless reckless late challenge on Haaland in the City half. He did make some big interceptions though in the second half including one that led to a great Spurs break. However, that card came back to haunt him late on when Grealish went down over his leg and the red card was flourished. He loses two points for that red. 7

Eric Dier

Constantly pushing up the pitch and adding to the numbers in the middle. One of his best games in a while. Nothing got past him. It was the first time Haaland didn't even have a single shot in a Premier League match or a touch in the Spurs box. 9

Ben Davies

Sent a header over from a Perisic corner in the second half. Battled away for everything around the Spurs box. Another excellent display. 9

Emerson Royal

Kept his place despite the arrival of Porro and he popped up everywhere in the first half, including on the left and through the centre of midfield on occasions. Put the ball on a plate for Kane only for the striker to miss the ball early in the second half. Made some great challenges in the second half in a running battle with Grealish, including one perfect one on the England man in the Spurs box. His best game in a Tottenham shirt and Grealish was constantly frustrated by his defending. Man of the match. 10

Rodrigo Bentancur

Picked up a first half yellow card but handled it well and was composed throughout. Used the ball well at every opportunity. 8

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Great work 15 minutes in to press high up the pitch, win the ball back, run forward and touch it off to Kane to score. He was everywhere, in both halves and knew how to stop the clock to frustrate City. 9

Ivan Perisic

Some sloppy moments defensively with the ball but also had a part to play in some of the good attacking moments. 6

Dejan Kulusevski

A constant outlet on the right-hand side, stretching City down that flank with Lewis having come inside. 8

Harry Kane

Now stands alone as Spurs' all-time record goalscorer burying his 267th goal for the club 15 minutes in. Missed a good chance early in the second half as he swung and missed the ball from an Emerson cross. Had another couple of efforts as Tottenham broke up the pitch constantly. Held the ball up so well. 9

Son Heung-min

Embarked on a box to box run early on that seemed to give him confidence. Was a constant threat to City with his runs down the left and through the centre. 8

Subs

Ryan Sessegnon

Did well down the left late in the game, with some runs to stretch the City defence. 6

Yves Bissouma

Added some energy to the midfield in the final minutes. 6

Davinson Sanchez

Came in to shore up the defence after Romero's red card and he did well. 6
