Tottenham Player Ratings vs Hoffenheim: Son Heung-Min Shines

Tottenham Hotspur clinched a 3-2 win over Hoffenheim in the Europa League – and here are our player ratings for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings vs Hoffenheim

Brandon Austin – 7

Austin’s second game in three years almost took a horrible turn after the referee awarded a penalty but for a collision between the Spurs keeper and Max Moerstedt – but VAR intervened to keep Austin’s strong performance in tact.

Pedro Porro – 7

Played a delightful pass to set up James Maddison’s opener and dealt with Hoffenheim’s attacking threat down the left-hand side superbly.

Ben Davies – 7

Ben Davies did a stellar job in this makeshift Spurs defence, especially when you consider this was the Welshman’s second 90 minutes after missing 11 matches through injury.

Radu Dragusin – 6

The Romanian was caught on his heels for Hoffenheim’s first goal and failed to pose much of a threat from set-pieces.

Archie Gray – 6

It’s been a tough few months for Archie Gray, being force to play in centre back and left back, the youngster showed moments of promise but his poor positioning kept Anton Stach onside for Hoffenheim’s opener.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 7

Putting in a strong, combative and composed 90 minute shift after the concerning concussion incident against Liverpool is something that cannot be underestimated.

James Maddison – 8

The Englishman was back to his best against Hoffenheim, well during the first 45 minutes, as Maddison registered a goal and an assist.

Lucas Bergvall – 6.5

A tenacious performance from the Swede earns him a 6.5, won the majority of his duels and tackles but missed a good chance to extend Spurs’ lead.

Dejan Kulusevski – 6

A relatively quiet night for the Swedish international, creating just one chance and having a singular touch in Hoffenheim’s box.

Richarlison – 5

Another disappointing night in a Spurs shirt for the Brazilian, he is clearly lacking match fitness after returning from injury and was rightfully substituted early into the second half.

Son Heung-Min – 8.5

The Tottenham Hotspur captain stepped up for his side scoring two vital goals and the second was a thing of beauty, finding the side netting with a weak-foot finish.

Substitutes

Mikey Moore (for Richarlison – 56′) – 6.5

Will Lankshear (for Heung-Min Son – 77′) – 5.5

Callum Olusesi (for James Maddison – 89′) – 5
