Tottenham player ratings vs Fulham: Lucas Bergvall offers immediate improvement but Yves Bissouma flops again

Tottenham came down from Thursday’s Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar with a bump as they were beaten 2-0 by Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Rogrigo Muniz’s 78th-minute strike put the hosts ahead and substitute Ryan Sessegnon scored a beauty within two minutes of his introduction against his former club.

The result condemned Spurs to a 15th defeat in the Premier League this season.

Here’s how we rated the visiting players...

Guglielmo Vicario 5

Got down to keep out Timothy Castagne’s tame effort in the first half but was well beaten by both goals. Flapped at crosses when he might have caught.

Djed Spence 6

Coped well enough with William and Antonee Robinson – Fulham’s danger-men down their left.

Cristian Romero 7

Added intensity to a flat game by snapping into tackles and oozed confidence on the ball.

Ben Davies 4

Outmuscled by Sessegnon for the second goal, marring an otherwise solid display. Made a number of blocks and was good in the air in both boxes.

Destiny Udogie 6

Produced a couple of nice touches and runs but still appears to be working his way back to his dynamic best.

Yves Bissouma 3

Hooked at half-time for the second league game running after another lax display. At some point, Postecoglou will presumably stop picking him.

Rodrigo Bentancur 5

Tidy but ineffective in an unfamiliar No10 role, failing to offer the creative spark that Spurs plainly needed.

Archie Gray 5

Occasionally sloppy in his first midfield start for Spurs. Made an important block to deny Alex Iwobi late in the first half

Brennan Johnson 4

Hard to remember a meaningful contribution from the winger in a flat first half and he was replaced by Heung-min Son at the interval.

Mathys Tel 5

Grew in confidence and drew a save from Bernd Leno with a curling shot in the second half.

Dominic Solanke 5

Squandered a huge chance when he volleyed over from six yards out, with Leno scrabbling to get back on his feet – one of three big openings which went begging.

Subs

Lucas Bergvall (Bissouma 46’) 6

Spurs immediately improved after his introduction and the energetic Swede created a big chance for Solanke.

Heung-min Son (Johnson 46’) 6

Added some intensity to Spurs front line and created a late opening for Solanke.

James Maddison (Romero 67’) 5

Made a brilliant chance for Solanke with his first touch, a deft chest-down into the striker’s path, but quickly faded.

Wilson Odobert (Tel 77’) 4

Lost possession within seconds his introduction, leading to Muniz’s goal.

Dane Scarlett (Bentancur 86’) 5

Limited time to make an impact, with the visitors chasing the game.

Not used: Kinsky, Sarr, Porro, van de Ven.
