Tottenham squandered a 2-0 lead to lose 4-3 to bitter rivals Chelsea in north London.
Goals from Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski – both after Marc Cucurella had slipped – got the hosts off to a flier inside 11 minutes but Jadon Sancho halved the deficit with a brilliant strike.
Cole Palmer converted the first of two penalties after Moises Caicedo – who was lucky to still on the pitch after a rash challenge on Pape Matar Sarr in the first half – was brought down by Yves Bissouma.
Enzo Fernandez made it 3-2 with a first-time finish inside the area and Palmer added a fourth from the spot after he was bundled over by Sarr.
Heung-min Son netted a late consolation for Spurs, who are now winless in four games since beating Manchester City 4-0.
Here’s how we rated the Spurs players…
Fraser Forster 7
Made a fine double-save to deny Palmer and Pedro Neto before a reflex stop to keep out Sancho’s effort. Powerless to stop any of Chelsea’s four goals.
Pedro Porro 5
Backed off Sancho for Chelsea’s first goal and struggled to contain the winger all afternoon.
Cristian Romero 7
Forced off just 14 minutes into his return through injury, with Spurs 2-0 up. Looked in some distress but returned to the bench before the end of the half.
Micky van de Ven 6
Pulled up with what looked like cramp before the end. Helped Spurs to play their way in the first half but faded, and could not stop Palmer’s run ahead of the decisive third goal.
Destiny Udogie 6
Coped brilliantly with Neto for most of the game. In common with his teammates, played with less intensity in the second half.
Yves Bissouma 4
Gave away the first penalty with a rash challenge on Caicedo, allowing Chelsea to level the game at 2-2. It was a careless and costly moment for Spurs.
Pape Matar Sarr 5
Needlessly gave away the second penalty with a shove on Palmer, who was heading away from goal. Played well in the first half, and sent a header against the bar.
Dejan Kulusevski 6
Took his goal superbly to put Spurs 2-0 up early in the game. His decision-making in the final third was mixed, however, and he squandered some good openings.
Brennan Johnson 7
Still had plenty to do after being gifted the ball by Cucurella for Spurs’ opening goal. His cross for Solanke was excellent. Forced off with a suspected injury at the start of the second half.
Heung-min Son 5
Got his late goal after missing a host of chances. Squandered a massive opening to make it 3-2 after bursting through on goal and forced a stoppage-time save from Robert Sanchez.
Dominic Solanke 7
Showed great desire to get ahead of Levi Colwill and steer Spurs in front. Should have had another but could not generate enough power on Son’s cross. Pressed superbly from the front.

Made the consolation goal for Son with an excellent dart down the touchline before squaring for the Korean.
