Tottenham player ratings: Harry Kane and Bentancur make their mark as do Romero, Dier and Davies

Hugo Lloris

Had very little to do and didn't have a shot to save. 6

Cristian Romero

In the right place at the right time to deflect Kulusevski's shot past Sanchez for his first goal for the club. Made some good interceptions at the back.. Picked up his almost obligatory yellow card and those are mounting up. 8

Eric Dier

Took a big whack to the head early on that required treatment and a head bandage. Made plenty of important blocks and tackles. 8

Ben Davies

Solid display at the back and made one terrific last gasp tackle to stop a Brighton attack in the Spurs box at a crucial moment. 8

Matt Doherty

Not many chances to attack but defended well down his flank before coming off in the final 10 minutes. 5

Rodrigo Bentancur

Made a surging drive forward before grabbing an assist with his ball into the path of Kane. Was a calming yet bustling presence in the midfield for Spurs. 8

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

His tackle started the move for Tottenham's second goal. Another good mopping up display in the centre of the pitch. 7

Sergio Reguilon

Some sloppy moments but also some decent defensive moments. Wasted a big attacking one though when put through by Kane and again late on as Sanchez saved both. 6

Dejan Kulusevski

It was his low shot that deflected in off Romero. Should have done better with a one-on-one chance with the keeper but his low shot was saved. Ran back well to interfere with Brighton's attack to help start the break for Spurs' second goal. Always looking to create and shows invention for Spurs. 7

Harry Kane

Closed down Sanchez in opening minutes and blocked his clearance but rolled his left-footed shot across the face of goal. He made no mistake though in the second half as he timed his run well and buried his shot to make it 14 goals in 19 games. Sprayed a perfectly-weighted ball into the path of Reguilon for another big Spurs chance. Tested Sanchez with a curling effort from outside the box before the end of normal time and then put through Reguilon for another chance with a great ball in the final moments. 8

Son Heung-min

Teed up Kulusevski in the build-up to Spurs' first half goal. Worked hard in getting back a lot but he struggled to make an impact as the game wore on and came off with just over 10 minutes to go. 6

Subs

Lucas Moura

Replaced Son in the final 10 minutes but offered little. 5

Emerson Royal

Brought more thrust in his cameo. 6

Steven Bergwijn

Came on for Kulusevski in added time. N/A
