Tottenham plan Destiny Udogie medical as progress made on seventh summer signing

Tottenham are mapping out a plan to make Destiny Udogie their seventh summer signing.

The Udinese left-back, who was personally recommended by manager Antonio Conte, is expected to join in a deal worth around £21million before spending the season back on loan at the Serie A club.

It is the same agreement which last summer saw Spurs beat a number of rivals to the signing of the much-coveted Pape Matar Sarr. The midfielder stayed at Metz last season and is now looking to impress Conte.

Standard Sport understands Spurs do not plan on bringing Udogie to their Hotspur Way base to conclude a deal, rather seeing the player agree personal terms on a long-term contract before undergoing a medical in Italy.

Tottenham managing director of football Fabio Paratici has good knowledge of the Italian market and Udogie is seen as a young player with big potential.

Fellow left-back Ryan Sessegnon on Saturday scored his first goal for Spurs as Southampton were thumped 4-1 on the opening weekend of the Premier League season. Summer signing Ivan Perisic, also a left-back, made his competitive debut for the club later in the game.

Sergio Reguilon, another left-back, is surplus to requirements and has been told he can leave Tottenham before the transfer deadline.
