Your morning Tottenham digest on Sunday, January 1.
Eric Dier out
Antonio Conte may well change things up as Spurs face Aston Villa on New Year's Day with England defender Eric Dier one of those that could miss out.
The centre-back started against Brentford as Conte saw his side struggle in the first half yet again, falling 2-0 down. With Cristian Romero back in the mix after his World Cup, Dier may well be the man taken out.
Romero was part of Lionel Scaloni's victorious Argentina side in Qatar and has been Spurs' best defender this season but had his final weeks before the tournament disrupted with injury issues.

What Dumfries has said
Inter Milan are reportedly ready to sell defender Denzel Dumfries in January for £26m with Tottenham amongst the clubs interested in signing him.
With issues at wing-back, the Milan player has caught the attention with impressive World Cup displays and could be the perfect mid-season option.
He has also been linked with Chelsea though and had this to say in Qatar: "Of course it’s a big compliment to be linked with Chelsea, but playing for Inter is a big compliment too. Chelsea move in January? I’m focused on nothing else but the national team and Inter."
