Tottenham news: Spurs to fight Arsenal for transfer amid Son Heung-min injury update

Your morning Tottenham Hotspur digest on Tuesday, June 20.

Arsenal fight

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have joined the race to sign Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes.

Barnes is expected to leave the Foxes this summer following the club's relegation from the Premier League last term. Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have both been heavily linked with the England international in recent times, with Spurs claimed to have seen a £50million bid for Barnes and fellow teammate James Maddison rejected.

Hojbjerg on Bayern links

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and the Danish international has now broken his silence on a potential return to Allianz Arena.

"What's lucky is that we plan an international match tomorrow (Monday)," he said. "So my focus is there. What comes next is fortunately not in my hands.

Son update

South Korean boss Jurgen Klinsmann has confirmed that Son Heung-min won't play his nation's second friendly of the summer as the Spurs attacker continues his recovery from his surgery.

"Son looks better every day. He'll not start tomorrow's game, but I'm very positive he will come on as the game goes on," Klinsmann said in his press conference, as quoted by Korean sports reporter Sungmo Lee.

"Son's role is not only important on the field. Of course he's a goalscorer and we want goals, but his role is very important to carry this team for the Asian Cup in Qatar. His role off the field is as much as important for us, coaches.

"We have many situations to deal with, for example Kim Min-jae is having military training, so to deal with these kinds of process, you need somebody like Sonny with experience. to guide the players from a player's perspective, so to have him on the side is crucial."
