Tottenham news: Spurs target 'unbelievable' £40.5m star as Gary Neville blasts forward duo

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Monday, March 14.

Spurs eye 'unbelievable' £40.5m star

Tottenham Hotspur could seal an “unbelievable signing” in Stefan de Vrij this summer transfer window.

That’s according to Eurosport transfer insider Dean Jones, who delivered an encouraging claim to GIVEMESPORT, via FootballFanCast, earlier this week.

“If they can get De Vrij, I think that would be an unbelievable signing and would fit perfectly for where they want to go in the next couple of years,” he said.

Transfermarkt estimate his value to be in the region of £40.5m.

Conte's Ronaldo and Messi admission

Antonio Conte has described Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo as a "top, top player" following his match-winning hat-trick against Tottenham on Saturday.

"We are talking about a player, not only in this night, that has shown.. A top top player," he said.

"Don’t forget Cristiano and Messi are the two best in the world, in this era. Before that it was Maradona and Pele, but now they’re the best.

"You have to know when you play this player, they’re decisive, without Cristiano Ronaldo for United it wasn’t a good night."

Neville fires damning warning to 'poor' Tottenham duo

Gary Neville has blasted Spurs duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min for their “poor” performances against United.

Neville, who was commentating on the match for Sky Sports, was highly critical of Spurs’ dynamic duo who this season passed the record for most joint goal involvements in Premier League history.

“It’s worth mentioning the two best players,” he said.

“Son was always on his backside and Kane gave the ball away more than I’d ever seen. About five, six times in that last 20 minutes. So they were really poor.

“When they got back to 2-2 they should’ve won Spurs that game but they were poor.

“They had their worst period of the game. Conte will be saying I want more from you.”
