Tottenham news: Spurs handed top four boost over Man United amid Vincent Kompany job response

Top four shift

Tottenham may have been handed a shift in the top four race on Thursday evening as rivals Manchester United faced Sevilla in the Europa League. The Red Devils played a strong team against the Spanish side, but will now be sweating over the fitness of a few key stars.

Marcus Rashford already missed the tie through injury, while both Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez had to be withdrawn from the game with concerns. Depending on how severe their injuries are, it could change the dynamic of the top four race.

Kompany response

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany issued a sharp response to questions over his future amid links with Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester City legend Kompany has steered the Clarets to an immediate return to the Premier League this season in his first job in English football.

Unsurprisingly, Kompany has been linked with a move away from Turf Moor with reports in the national press claiming that the Belgian is a top target for Spurs to replace Antonio Conte.
