Rio Ferdinand transfer claim
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged Tottenham to back manager Antonio Conte this summer in the transfer market. It comes ahead of a potentially huge period for Spurs, with the Italian hoping to craft the squad in his image.
Speaking on BT Sport, the pundit said: “I think he has done enough to deserve that [transfer backing]. He is third in terms of points gained and goals scored since he got here, which tells you the levels he is at.
“They put in a performance at Liverpool, they're coming and it showed at Anfield. He wants to see that play out. You have to bet on him. You can't question this guy in terms of what he can bring, the intensity.
“Where do they go from here? If you're not taking Conte, who is in the market better equipped? Nobody. Conte is the man 100 per cent for Spurs.”

Eric Dier’s Antonio Conte statement
Tottenham defender Eric Dier has called upon manager Antonio Conte to stay at the club next season, continuing his ‘special relationship’ that he has already developed. The Italian has impressed since taking over the club, though questions marks have remained over whether he will stay.
Speaking to BT Sport, he said: “"That’s above my pay grade but I can speak for the group of players, and I think the manager would agree as well, the relationship between this group and the manager is something special and I really want to continue to build that relationship.”
Four players hit by virus in Spurs camp
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has revealed that a stomach bug has infiltrated the playing squad ahead of the clash with Burnley on Sunday. Four players were confirmed to have contracted the illness during a key run in for the top four this season.
Ahead of the game, Conte said: “Yesterday four players [contracted the virus] but it is ok. [Dejan] Kulusevski didn't have the training session, we have Lucas Moura. That is good and he came off the bench and I hope he is ready to come in.”
