Tottenham news: Richarlison transfer swoop slammed as Spurs eye double swoop

Tottenham Hotspur's summer move for Everton forward Richarlison has been slammed by ex-Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

Spurs completed the £60million signing of Richarlison from Everton on Friday with the Brazil forward signing a five-year deal with the north London club. He becomes Tottenham’s fourth summer signing, following the arrivals of Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma.

But Wilshere has criticised the switch, insisting Richarlison would not get into the Arsenal starting XI. It comes as Spurs could rub salt into the wounds of Richarlison's former club with a move for the player they had lined up as his potential replacement.

And Spurs are set to complete the signing of Middlesbrough full-back Djed Spence.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Tottenham Hotspur headlines.

Richarlison transfer swoop slammed

New Tottenham signing Richarlison would not get into Arsenal's starting XI, according to Jack Wilshere.

The 25-year-old signed for Spurs on Friday and will add further competition and depth to Antonio Conte's attacking ranks, with the club having been keen to recruit a forward who could play right across the frontline for some time. Richarlison notched 53 goals in 152 games in four years at Everton, joining the Toffees in 2018 after a year at Watford.

But according to Wilshere, had Richarlison moved to Arsenal he'd "be a good part of the squad but I don’t think he gets in the XI".

Spurs to rival Everton for Lingard

Tottenham Hotspur could swoop for free agent Jesse Lingard in another blow to Everton.

The Toffees had reportedly lined up the ex-Manchester United star as a potential replacement for Richarlison. The move would have allowed Lingard to remain in the north west while guaranteeing him first-team football.

But the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season may help convince Lingard to turn down Frank Lampard's side in order to move to London.

Spence move nears completion

Tottenham Hotspur are poised to secure the signing of Middlesbrough full-back Djed Spence.

The defender had a highly productive loan spell at Nottingham Forest last season, helping Steve Cooper's side secure promotion to the Premier League through the Championship play-offs. He is now expected to undergo a medical with Spurs in the coming days after a fee in the region of around £15-16million when add-ons are included was agree.

It means Spence could be lining up against his former side when Spurs visit the City Ground on August 27.
