Tottenham news: Man Utd reveal Marcus Rashford doubt as Napoli sent Tanguy Ndombele reminder

Your morning Tottenham Hotspur digest on Thursday, April 13.

Ndombele agreement

Napoli would not have an obligation to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham if they qualify for the Champions League, football.london understands. There had been various reports in Italy after the Frenchman signed for the Serie A side that should they qualify for the Champions League for next season then the 30m euros (£26.3m) option to buy would become an obligation.

Napoli are running away with the Serie A title and sit 16 points clear of second-placed Lazio and 23 points above fifth-placed Inter Milan. With nine games remaining of the league season that means Luciano Spalletti's side should have Champions League qualification in the bag within the next few weeks

However, football.london understands there is no mechanism in the original transfer for such an achievement to turn Ndombele's move into a permanent switch.

FA statement on Stellini clash

The FA have charged Tottenham and Brighton for a mass confrontation which took place in the second-half of Saturday's clash. Tensions began to boil over before a ball had even been kicked after Roberto De Zerbi confronted fellow Italian Cristian Stellini when he had emerged from the tunnel to shake his hand.

The row continued throughout the game, with De Zerbi and his coaching team seen antagonising the Spurs bench after Lewis Dunk had restored parity in the first half. Things finally came to a head moments after Danny Welbeck had seen a goal ruled out for handball by VAR, with a mass melee breaking out.

"Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion have been charged for a mass confrontation that took place during the 58th minute of their Premier League game on Saturday 8 April," read a statement from the FA.

"It's alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their technical area occupants conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or do not behave in a way which is improper. Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion have until Monday 18 April to respond."

Rashford setback

Marcus Rashford is a potential injury doubt for Manchester United's upcoming game against Tottenham. The England international featured in the Red Devils' 2-0 win over Everton last Saturday but was withdrawn in the 80th minute due to injury.

A statement on Manchester United's official website reads: "Marcus Rashford will be unavailable for Thursday’s UEFA Europa League quarter-final game against Sevilla because of a muscle injury. The forward was withdrawn in the 80th minute of Saturday’s 2-0 Premier League win over Everton at Old Trafford and immediately headed to the dressing room for treatment.

"Subsequent assessment of the injury suggested that Marcus will be unavailable for a few games, but is expected to be back for the season run-in."

With no specific date in mind when Rashford will be back on the pitch, Erik ten Hag may have to do without the frontman when his side travel to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday, April 27.
