Tottenham news: Jurgen Klopp admits Spurs concern as rivals issue Champions League warning

The coming weekend has the potential to be a season-defining one for Antonio Conte and his Tottenham Hotspur team.

With just four games to go, Spurs still have Champions League qualification in their own hands, as they trail Arsenal by a point and host the Gunners on Thursday in the north London derby.

However, the gap to Arsenal may well extend this weekend. While Tottenham travel to quadruple-chasing Liverpool on Saturday evening, Mikel Arteta's team will host relegation-threatened Leeds United on Sunday.

If Spurs can get out of the weekend with their destiny still their's to determine, then it has to be considered a successful round of fixtures.

Can Tottenham still qualify for the Champions League if they lose to Liverpool on Saturday? Let us know in the comments section below!

Klopp admits Spurs concern

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is wary of the "crazy" attacking threat Tottenham have in the form of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

The duo are arguably the most potent partnership in the division and although the goals have not flowed freely for Kane this season, only Mohamed Salah has found the back of the net more frequently than Son in 2021-22.

Speaking ahead of the game, Klopp outlined the kind of threat he expects the Tottenham attackers to offer.

"They have speed like crazy up front, Harry Kane, what a player, they have a blind understanding (the front men)," he said. "It's probably the biggest challenge for protection we've faced in a long time. We have to find a way to keep them calm as often as possible."

Arteta sends Champions League message

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta thinks his team must beat Tottenham to the Champions League spot this season in order to move to the next level.

The rivalry between the two sides has added an extra dimension to the fight, as well as the upcoming north London derby at Spurs on Thursday. Arteta signed a new contract with Arsenal on Friday and outlined his ambitions for the Gunners, with elite-level European football at the heart of them.

"To take the club to the next level and to compete really with the top teams," he said. In order to do that, we have to be playing in the Champions League."

Transfer targets examined

Speaking ahead of the clash with Liverpool, Conte said he has yet to put forward a list of possible summer transfer targets to the club, as it would be too substantial.

Although the Italian was able to draft in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski in the January window, he was candid in his desire to revamp the squad further.

That should be easier to accomplish in the summer and Mirror Sport has looked at four potential players who could make a big difference to the north London outfit come next season.
