Tottenham news: Jose Mourinho eyes £25m transfer as Spurs told how to use Bastoni alternative

Here are your latest Tottenham news stories for Saturday, June 11.

Mourinho wants Ndombele

Tanguy Ndombele has had a rollercoaster journey at Spurs but overall, he hasn't made the required impact expected, being the club's record signing. It seems ever more less likely that the Frenchman will return to Hotspur Way this summer and there have already been some reports linking the 25-year-old with a move elsewhere.

Some of these rumours have included a potential reunion with Jose Mourinho at Roma. Ndombele, who is valued at around £25m by CIES Football Observatory, was linked with a move to Roma during the January window before he returned to Lyon, though a move to the Serie A has reemerged as a possibility, according to reports.

Bale tells Conte what to do with Rodon

Gareth Bale believes Joe Rodon should be playing consistently at Tottenham Hotspur. The Wales legend voiced his surprise that his fellow countryman was struggling to get game time at White Hart Lane.

The forward believes that the 24-year-old defender has repeatedly proven his calibre for consistent first-team selection but has failed to be given the chance he deserves. Bale said: "For me personally, I feel like he should be playing at Tottenham.

"I think he’s shown time and time again how good he is, I think personally when I was there last year, I felt he deserved to be playing. I don’t feel like he’s really had the opportunity to play a consistent run of games at Tottenham and I feel like if he did, he would be fantastic for them."

Spurs find new free-kick taker

Tottenham may have finally found their Christian Eriksen replacement in Son Heung-min. The former Bayer Leverkusen attacker has scored free-kicks in back-to-back games against Chile and Paraguay, staking his claim to become Spurs' primary free-kick taker ahead of the likes of defender Eric Dier and striker Harry Kane.

Kane scored his first-ever direct free-kick in the Premier League against Aston Villa back in 2014 but has since struggled from set-pieces, failing to find the back of the net from his next 53 attempts in the league, as per Opta, via fannation. Danish playmaker Eriksen had previously been a brilliant free-kick taker for the Lilywhites, but he left for Inter Milan in January 2020 and the north Londoners have since struggled to convert from direct set-pieces.
