Tottenham news: Jesse Lingard transfer rivals emerge as Spurs target fresh midfield addition

Antonio Conte's Tottenham Hotspur have learned who their rivals are in the race to sign ex-Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard.

The 29-year-old is available on a free transfer this summer after his contract at Old Trafford expired and has been the subject of interest from several Premier League clubs. And Spurs boss Conte is an admirer of Lingard and the club could be set to enter a transfer tug-of-war to land his signature.

It comes as Yves Bissouma's perfect midfield partner has reportedly been identified with Spurs targeting a fresh midfield addition. And after a number of pundits claimed Arsenal's signing of Gabriel Jesus is a better deal than Spurs signing Richarlison, statistics have shown Antonio Conte's side may actually be getting the better player.

Have your say! Who do you think Tottenham Hotspur should target in the transfer market this summer? Let us know what you think in the comments below

Lingard transfer rivals emerge

Spurs have learned which of their Premier League rivals also hope to sign Jesse Lingard this summer.

The former Manchester United star needs to find himself a new club this summer after his contract at Manchester United expired. Spurs have made contact with Lingard's representatives about a potential move with Antonio Conte a big fan of the player.

Everton have also made contact with Lingard's team, while cash-rich Newcastle United are also in the frame to land Lingard's signature.

Midfielder 'targeted'

Antonio Conte may have identified new signing Yves Bissouma's perfect midfield partner with the club linked with a move for Aston Villa's John McGinn.

Bissouma arrived in a £25million deal from Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this summer and is set to add his Premier League experience to Antonio Conte's midfield next season. And, according to football.london, Conte could partner him with McGinn next season.

The report adds that COnte wants more creativity and attacking flare from his centre-midfielders next season – and could see McGinn as the ideal addition to his squad.

Statistic explains Richarlison move

One key statistic proves why Tottenham's signing of Richarlison will prove to be better than Arsenal's acquisition of Gabriel Jesus.

Former Everton forward Richarlison arrived in north London in a £60million move last week, with Arsenal set to secure the signing of Manchester City's Jesus for £45million this week. Tony Cascarino gave his verdict on the moves on talkSPORT, suggesting Jesus would prove to be a better signing due to him being "more versatile" while also possessing "an incredible work ethic".

But, per football.london, Opta stats show that since making his Premier League debut for Everton in 2018, Richarlison is the second top-scoring Brazilian across Europe’s top five leagues and has scored five more goals than Jesus. And that could show just why Spurs opted to pursue Richarlison rather than his fellow countryman.
