Newcastle £40m Maddison bid 'rejected'
Premier League rivals Newcastle have seen a bid of £40million rejected by Leicester for Tottenham transfer target James Maddison.
According to the Telegraph, Newcastle are now deciding whether to make an improved offer for the midfielder, with Leicester believed to value Maddison at closer to £60million.
Maddison had a stellar 2021/22 campaign scoring 18 goals and providing a further 12 assists in 53 appearances for the Foxes. football.london understands Spurs want to add one or two more signings to Antonio Conte's squad before the transfer deadline, with a No.10 a possibility after the Lilywhites were interested in free transfers for Christian Eriksen and Jesse Lingard earlier this summer.

Roy Keane's Spurs admission
Roy Keane has backed Tottenham to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table in the upcoming 2022/23 season, as per the Metro.
Speaking on ITV's coverage of City's FA Community Shield clash against Liverpool, the former Manchester United midfielder said: "I look around the Premier League and Tottenham are the one team that will think they can get in the mix this season, but Liverpool and City are a class apart.
"We saw what they are all about again in this game. The passing and movement was top class and even though Klopp said they weren’t at their best, I thought this was a great game between two outstanding teams. They will be one and two in the Premier League again this season and it’s just a case of what order they will be in.
"Spurs might be closest to them this year, but Manchester United? I just don’t see it. I hope they prove me wrong, but they don’t look good enough for me," Keane added.
Joe Rodon medical booked
Joe Rodon looks set to complete a loan move to French side Stade Rennes this week, with a medical booked in this weekend.
Rodon didn't make the trip to Israel with his Tottenham teammates for Saturday's friendly against Roma, as the centre-back edges closer to completing a loan deal to join the French club, who are understood to have the option to purchase the player at the end of the campaign for €20million (£16.7million).
