Tottenham news: Harry Kane 'perfect' scenario outlined as Wrexham owner makes Gareth Bale call

Your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Monday, May 8.

Hojbjerg's Kance stance

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg says Tottenham Hotspur must make sure that they fulfil their responsibility towards Harry Kane to "make sure the scenario for him is the best possible".

The 29-year-old England captain was once again Spurs' match-winner as they overcame Crystal Palace 1-0 on Saturday in the Premier League. That header meant Kane overtook Wayne Rooney as the Premier League's second-highest-ever goalscorer on 209 goals. He reached it in just 317 appearances, compared to Rooney's 491 to reach 208 goals.

With Kane's contract about to enter its final 12 months, Hojbjerg believes that the club have to ensure that everything is perfect around their all-time top goalscorer.

"[This latest record] is amazing, but what is there for me to say [about him] that people do not know already, it is maybe difficult, but honestly, it is nice to have him around and he is one of those players who will be in the (record) books, in the history for a very long time," said the Dane.

Europa League hope

Tottenham's hopes of finishing in the Premier League top four places now seem a distant possibility after a horrendous run of form. With three games left of the season, Ryan Mason's men will require a huge overturn of fortunes with results elsewhere needing to go their way alongside a perfect run against Aston Villa, Brentford and Leeds United.

Currently, Spurs are sixth in the Premier League - the final European spot that is rewarded with a place in the Europa Conference League. However, a place in the Europa League could be granted, depending on the outcome of June's FA Cup final between Manchester City and Man United.

The winners of the trophy automatically qualify for the Europa League group stages, though with both teams currently taking up positions in the top four, that won't be the case.

The rules state that if the FA Cup winners finish in the top five of the Premier League, their Europa League group stage place will go to the next-highest-ranked team. The team that finished in fifth place also qualifies for the group stage, meaning the extra space in the Europa League will fall to the sixth-placed side - which is currently Tottenham.

Wrexham Bale calling

Wrexham owner Rob McElhenney has made yet another plea to Gareth Bale, urging the former Tottenham and Wales forward to come out of retirement for another year.

Getting Bale, a five-time Champions League winner, to return to the pitch just four months after hanging up his boots, would be a different type of achievement entirely.

Following a back-and-forth on social media between Bale, Reynolds and McElhenney, all parties have recently addressed the chances of a miraculous career U-turn for the Wales legend. McElhenney has taken it a step further.

Speaking on The Aarthi and Sriram Show, the 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' star was urged to send a message to Bale, and said: "Gareth, okay listen, it's just me and you talking for a second. I know that Southern California is beautiful and I know, I'm from Philadelphia and I've lived here for many, many years but you're a young man and you have the rest of your life to live wherever you want.

"If you could just come back from one last year of glory, one last year. I believe your nation, the nation of Wales, could do the right thing. Call me."
