Tottenham news: Harry Kane makes transfer demand as Antonio Conte told of Spurs 'mistake'

Harry Kane is reportedly ready to stay at Tottenham Hotspur on one condition – that the club's board back Antonio Conte in the summer transfer window.

The Italian coach rocked the club this week with comments made to the media in his home country where he claimed his squad had been made 'weaker' during the January transfer window despite the signings of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski arriving from Juventus.

The interview has now led to the Spurs boss reportedly receiving a gagging order by the club as the fallout continues.

But it appears to have helped persuade Kane his future may be in north London after all.

It comes as Ian Wright has told Conte he 'knows he’s made a mistake' in taking the Spurs job in the first place.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Tottenham Hotspur headlines.

Wright goads Conte

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has told Antonio Conte he 'knows he’s made a mistake' in taking the Spurs job.

Conte arrived at Spurs in November having been heavily linked with the job last summer before Nuno Espirito Santo's short-lived time at the helm for the club.

But he gave a stinging criticism of his own club this week with an interview he gave to the Italian media where he stated his squad had become 'weaker' during the January transfer window.

And Wright believes the manager may already be readying to leave the club – and may even be out before the next transfer window even opens.

Conte's ban

Antonio Conte has been told not to speak to the Italian media again by Tottenham following his controversial interview this week.

In the interview, Conte appeared to criticise Spurs' January transfer business, with the club signing two players on deadline day.

But the Italian says that his point about rebuilding the team has actually been lost in translation, leading to his bosses imposing the gagging order to prevent anything similar happening in the future.

And the Spurs boss has opened up about what he says he really meant by the comments.

Kane's terms

Harry Kane may be prepared to stay at Tottenham if the club back Antonio Conte in the transfer market, it is claimed.

The striker has been heavily linked with Mancheser United this week following reports the Old Trafford outfit are prepared to appoint former Spurs boss as their next permanent manager.

Kand also came close to leaving north London last summer, with Manchesteer City having a bid for the Englant international rejected as Daniel Levy refused to lower his asking price for his skipper.

And the striker has now reportedly laid out his terms to the club in order to remain at Spurs beyond this summer.
