Tottenham news: Gareth Bale's agent drops Spurs transfer hint as Kane gives Conte future verdict

Your Tottenham digest on Tuesday, May 17.

Bale bails out on Real Madrid future

Gareth Bale has decided to not renew his contract at Real Madrid beyond the summer, his agent Jonathan Barnett has confirmed. The 32-year-old enjoyed a fruitful spell at the Santiago Bernabeu, though struggled to nail down a role in the Spanish side's first-team after a series of injuries.

Speaking to Record Portugal, his agent confirmed that his client will leave the Spanish giants this summer. Barnett said: "Gareth will leave Real Madrid.

"His return to English football is likely, I think," Bale's agent added, before steering the focus ahead to Wales' World Cup play-off games in the coming weeks. "But, his future now depends on Wales and their playoff games for the World Cup."

Kane on Conte's future

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Conte's future in N17, with the Italian never keen to commit to the club unless his high ambitions are met by the club he's at. But it's fair to say the players want him to stay.

Harry Kane said: "I have no idea [about Conte's future], it's his decision, he's worked extremely hard in the time he's been here, he's a great guy, an extremely passionate man and whatever his decision is you have to respect it, but for sure I'm enjoying it, I know the boys are enjoying working with him.

"I've said I'm a big fan of his, we get on really well and it would be great for the club if he stays, but it's his decision, I'm sure he'll talk to the club and decide his future, but we're all enjoying working with him."

Romero on first season at Spurs

Cristian Romero believes his decision to come to Tottenham was the right one and that he can continue to grow with the club. For the Argentine, the campaign has brought injuries, including a three months absence with a hamstring problem and a hip injury suffered during a fine performance at Liverpool looks to have ended his season three games from its finish.

Romero said: "I have to say I'm pleased with the decision to come to Tottenham. It’s a wonderful city here in London and a wonderful club - a club with a growing mentality that’s actually helping me to grow on a personal level.

"I can say the same about the league, which is the best in the world. I'm very happy to be here. The way the club is treating me - the staff, the fans - is brilliant and for me, that means I’m doing my job well. I hope things continue in this way and we can finish the season positively."
