Paratici can raise millions with sales
Much will be expected of Tottenham in the January transfer window once again after Fabio Paratici revolutionised the team at the start of 2022. Desperately needing some fresh blood in order to reverse their fortunes with the team struggling to string wins together, the managing director of football returned to his former club Juventus to strike deals for Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski.
The duo immediately helped raise the level at Tottenham and have continued to do so over the past year. Always going to be incredibly hard to top the signings going on the success of both deals, Paratici has a big job on his hands in 2023 as he looks to improve Antonio Conte's Tottenham squad.
One area Spurs could try and address in the winter market is the backline after a few issues there before the Premier League went on pause for the World Cup. That in turn could mean a few players at the club depart in order to help strengthen in defence as Tottenham look to hit the next level.
So which defenders could potentially be sold and how much could the club bring in for them? football.london takes a look at three possible options, here.

Kane message after World Cup heartbreak
Harry Kane has stated he is using the experience of his England penalty miss against France "to be mentally and physically stronger for the next challenge". Trailing 2-1 in the closing stages of their World Cup quarter-final clash in Qatar, the Three Lions were handed a glorious opportunity to restore parity after Mason Mount was barged over in the area.
Fresh from already scoring a penalty past Tottenham teammate Hugo Lloris, Kane stepped up once again but this time blazed his penalty over the crossbar. The miss ultimately proved costly, with England unable to find a second goal in the remaining minutes of the contest, with France prevailing and going through to set up a semi-final clash against Morocco on Wednesday evening.
"Absolutely gutted. We’ve given it everything and it’s come down to a small detail which I take responsibility for. There’s no hiding from it, it hurts and it’ll take some time to get over it but that’s part of sport." wrote Kane on his Instagram account.
"Now it’s about using the experience to be mentally and physically stronger for the next challenge. Thanks for all the support throughout the tournament - it means a lot."
How Giroud reacted to Kane miss
Kane received the backing of his England teammates at the final whistle and got a consoling hug from Tottenham teammate Hugo Lloris, who was between the sticks for France. Kylian Mbappe could not hide his delight at the miss, seen on camera laughing and smiling straight after it happened.
And new footage has emerged of another France star - one who will be well known to Tottenham fans for being on rival sides in the Premier League on many occasions - enjoying the moment, namely Olivier Giroud.
The France players all celebrated, naturally as you would a penalty miss for the opposition late on in a game. But Giroud almost took it too far.
In new footage that has emerged from behind Lloris' goal, the former Arsenal and Chelsea man sprinted into the box and celebrated right next to Kane, who was aghast, before going off with his teammates. Not a good look, really, but emotions in a game of such magnitude can get the better of you.
