Tottenham news: Fabio Paratici backed to conjure transfer trick as Carrasco clause surfaces

Tottenham Hotspur director Fabio Paratici has been backed to secure a "surprise transfer" before the end of the summer window.

The Tottenham transfer guru has already been busy at work after seeing Antonio Conte's side secure Champions League qualification at the end of last season. Spurs have already secured the signings of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma, but Conte still craves a new centre-back.

Paratici has been backed to deliver one – although it may not be one of the names that have been commonly linked with a move to Tottenham so far this summer. It comes as Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco has been linked with a move to the north London side.

And his Atletico teammate Joao Felix has already sent Spurs a transfer message after he was also linked with a move this week.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Tottenham Hotspur headlines.

Paratici's transfer 'surprise'

Fabio Paratici could conjure "a surprise out of the hat" in his bid to sign a new centre-back this summer.

That is the view of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has spoken about Tottenham's hunt for new defenders. Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni has already turned down a move to the club, with Spurs now being linked with RB Leipzig duo Mohamed Simakan and Josko Gvardiol, as well as Villarreal's Pau Torres.

And Romano has said he is "sure" Spurs will sign a centre-back "because Antonio Conte really wants one" – but that Paratici may end up signing none of the names currently being linked with the club.

Carrasco linked

Spurs are reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco to the club this summer.

It comes as details of a release clause in the Belgian winger's contract in Spain came to light, meaning he could be available this summer. Carrasco is apparently eager to sign a new contract that would bring him closer to the club's top earners, like Jan Oblak, Antoine Greizmann, and Koke, even though it is thought he is quite happy at Atletico.

According to recent reports, he has a £51.5 million release clause, but Atletico might open up contract negotiations in order to try and keep him.

Felix's six-word message

Joao Felix has already sent Tottenham a six-word transfer message with Antonio Conte reportedly planning a potential swap move for the Portuguese star.

Recent reports have linked the Atletico star with a move to north London, with Giovani Lo Celso possibly moving in the opposite direction. Reports coming out of Spain suggest Felix is no longer considered 'non-transferable' by his manager Diego Simeone, who is also thought to be a fan of Lo Celso.

The forward has previously been linked with Spurs before he secured his huge £114million move to Spain in 2019. And, as per football.london, when he was asked if he could see himself playing in the Premier League in the future after completing that move he replied: "I don't know, maybe one day."
