Tottenham news: Antonio Conte sent title warning after transfer spree as Jules Kounde eyed

Antonio Conte has been warned Tottenham Hotspur "needs to win" after their summer transfer splurge.

Spurs have so far brought in Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic on free transfers while also parting with £25million to bring in Yves Bissouma from Brighton and £60million to acquire Richarlison from Everton – and that was all before Clement Lenglet arrived on loan from Barcelona earlier this week. And former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood has now said, "once the chairman gives you the tools to work with, you need to go and win".

It comes as the club have been linked with a move for Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde. And Spurs youngster Japhet Tanganga is reportedly attracting transfer interest and is 'on Newcastle United's radar'.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Tottenham Hotspur headlines.

Conte sent title warning

Antonio Conte "has got the players" to win trophies now according to ex-Spurs boss Tim Sherwood.

Speaking on behalf of 888sport, Sherwood has shared just how impressed he has been with the players Spurs have bought since Conte took charge last November. He thinks that is in no small part down to Conte, who has "got a fantastic art of making chairmen spend money".

And after being "given the tools to work with", Sherwood says Conte is now "under pressure" to win.

Kounde eyed

Spurs have entered the race to sign Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde.

The Frenchman has been widely linked with a move to Chelsea over the last couple of years, although the Stamford Bridge outfit appear to have moved on to other targets with Kalidou Koulibaly set to move to the club from Napoli. And now Spurs are the latest Premier League side reportedly keen to sign the defender, who has a £76millionprice tag on his head.

But Antonio Conte's side still face stiff competition for the player's signature, even if Chelsea have decided to move on elsewhere, with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona also linked with moves for the highly-rated centre-back.

Tanganga 'on Newcastle radar'

Newcastle United could make an attempt to sign Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga from under the noses of AC Milan, it has been reported.

The 23-year-old has been linked with the Tottenham exit door and AC Milan have reportedly been keen to take him to Italy. But reports now suggest that cash-rich Newcastle are ready to offer an initial season-long loan deal with an obligation to buy.

It is claimed Spurs would be 'very happy' to proceed with the move as they look to balance the books after a big summer outlay so far.
