Tottenham news: Antonio Conte sends 'ambition' message as Spurs drop future hint

Antonio Conte has sent a message about 'ambition' to his players as they battle to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Spurs sit in seventh place in the Premier League table, three points off of Arsenal in fourth place although the Gunners have a game in hand over their rivals, following their 2-0 win over Brighton. And following that result Conte has credited the "great improvement" within his side as they chase down a top four spot.

It comes as a subtle change behind the scenes may have strengthened Conte's position, while suggesting he may stick with the club for the longer haul. And Hugo Lloris has fired a warning to his teammates ahead of their "massive" Premier League encounter with West Ham on Sunday.

Llloris sends waning

Hugo Lloris has warned his teammates Sunday's clash with West Ham will be "massive" as they bid to finish in the Premier League's top four.

Spurs still hold out hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season and saw their bid for a top four place strengthened with their 2-0 win over Brighton. They will now have a tricky London derby against West Ham to contend with before heading into the international break next week and know the fixture could be key to defining their season according to Lloris.

Conte's message to players

Antonio Conte has told his players "it is right to have ambition" as they push for Champions League qualification.

Spurs beat Brighton 2-0 thanks to goals from Cristian Romero and Harry Kane to reignite hopes after their disappointing 3-2 loss to Manchester United last weekend. And Conte thinks his side are showing "great improvement" as he talked up Tottenham's chances of finishing in the top four.
