Tottenham news: Antonio Conte provides Son Heung-min update as Spurs suffer defeat to Liverpool

Your morning Tottenham digest on Monday, November 7.

Antonio Conte provides Son Heung-min update

Speaking after the 2-1 loss against Liverpool, Tottenham boss Antonio Conte provided a positive injury update on Son Heung-min. The South Korea star fractured his eye socket in the UEFA Champions League win over Marseille last week and missed the clash against Jurgen Klopp's side.

Conte said: "No with Sonny, I sent him a message yesterday after the surgery and Sonny was really, really disappointed for this situation but I hope for him he will recover very well and play in the World Cup.

"I was a player and I know the importance of playing in the World Cup. Tonight he was the first person to play this game, for sure he missed us. I am confident, confident that he can come back quickly and play the World Cup for South Korea."

Conte fumes at Liverpool coach

Back on the touchline after watching on from the stands on Tuesday evening in Marseille, Conte was extremely animated as usual. Hyped up even more following Kane's strike which handed Spurs a lifeline, it wouldn't be long at all until he was in the book.

Liverpool were keen to slow the game down when they had a throw down Tottenham's right, with Andy Robertson showing no signs of moving for the ball when Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders was in the technical area holding it out. In the end Spurs assistant Cristian Stellini had to grab a different ball and throw it to the Scotland international to ensure the game got back underway.

Conte was not impressed by Liverpool's tactics at all and dashed over to their technical area and smashed the ball out of Lijnders' hand, thus resulting in him receiving a yellow card. The boss wasn't the only one who was unhappy towards the end of the game as director of football Fabio Paratici could be seen remonstrating with the fourth official at the full-time whistle when he headed down the tunnel.

Tottenham player ratings vs Liverpool

Harry Kane

Curled in a dangerous cross that hit Alisson and bounced against the post. Kept pushing up front and scored with a superb low finish into the bottom left corner on 70 minutes - his 11th in 14 Premier League games. Sent a header wide soon after from a Perisic free-kick and flicked on another cross from the Croatian that Bentancur was inches away from. 7

Ivan Perisic

Gave Alexander-Arnold plenty of problems in the first half and should have got a firm header on to Kane's first half cross and it would have been the equaliser. Fired an effort against the crossbar early in the second half and put in some dangerous crosses and set pieces as Spurs chased the game. Lots of quality on the ball in both of his positions during the match. 7

Dejan Kulusevski

There was a buzz among the crowd and players when he came back into the action and within minutes he had an assist, putting Kane in to score. 7
