Tottenham news: Antonio Conte handed £17m Serie A transfer pursuit boost as Spurs plot rebuild

Your Tottenham morning digest on Thursday, April 28.

Spurs handed boost in £17m pursuit

Nicolo Zaniolo has no intention of signing a new contract at AS Roma amid interest from Tottenham, according to TuttoMercatoWeb. The 22-year-old's contract with the Italian giants is set to expire in 2024.

The report claims that Jose Mourinho's side have placed a price tag of £42 million on the midfielder ahead of a potential exit in the summer. CalcioMercato and Fichajes have credited Antonio Conte's side with interest in Zaniolo ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

He's impressed this season for Roma, directly contributing towards 15 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions. The £16.8m-rated target, as valued by CIES Football Observatory, has been crucial to Mourinho's success this season, welding a strong relationship with former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.

Clarke decision in the offing

Jack Clarke has only one year left on his contract at Tottenham and it just doesn't seem as if he is going to become a Spurs regular. The 21-year-old winger, who has had loan spells at Leeds, QPR, Stoke and now Sunderland, has featured just four times since arriving nearly three years ago for £9m.

football.london understands that the winger will either pen a small contract extension in order to raise his stock value or Spurs will look to offload Clarke this summer if the interest is there.

Paratici begins summer transfer mission

Tottenham have confirmed that Brian Carey has left his position as head of recruitment at the club. Arriving at Tottenham six years ago and taking on a more behind-the-scenes role compared to his previous roles in the game, Carey has now decided to call time on his position in N17.

There have been some key changes at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the past year following the arrival of Fabio Paratici as managing director of football. football.london reported back in November that Spurs' managing director of football had begun to undertake a thorough evaluation process of all of the departments that linked into the football side of the club in order to raise them to those levels he had been used to at Juventus for more than a decade.

As part of the changes, Spurs are looking to appoint a No.2 to Paratici ahead of a busy summer for the club.
