Tottenham news: Ange Postecoglou makes Arnaut Danjuma call after Richarlison's Real Madrid claim

Your morning Tottenham Hotspur digest on Friday, June 16.

Tottenham Premier League 2023/24 fixtures in full

Ange Postecoglou faces a mixed start to Premier League life as the Tottenham Hotspur head coach but a nightmare end to the season.

The 2023/24 season's Premier League fixtures were revealed on Thursday morning to give the Australian the blueprint from which to plan the campaign ahead, one which will not contain European football for the first time in 14 years for the north London outfit.

Postecoglou now knows that his first competitive match as Tottenham head coach will be a trip to Brentford on Sunday, August 13 with a 2pm kick-off.

The 57-year-old's first Premier League game in the dugout of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a big one with the visit of Manchester United on what is currently set as Saturday, August 19. That is currently scheduled as a 3pm kick-off but all fixtures, other than the first and last matches of the season, are subject to change as broadcasters decide their picks.

Tottenham announce retained list

Tottenham have announced their retained list for the new season with 12 players leaving the club for free. Including academy prospects and scholars, Spurs have made the decision not to renew the deals heading into the 2023/24 campaign.

Ange Postecoglou was announced as the new head coach earlier this month and has also found out who the club will be playing in their opening match of his tenure but the Australian will be without loan pair Clement Lenglet and Arnaut Danjuma. Both players will be on their way back to their parent clubs.

Danjuma, who joined in January on a short-term loan deal from Villarreal, started well, scoring on his debut in the FA Cup against Preston. He added another as a second half substitute against Bournemouth in April. The 26-year-old played 12 times for the club under three different managers.

There was an option to purchase Danjuma for around £35million in his loan deal but the club have now confirmed that they will not be taking that step.

Richarlison makes Tottenham vow

Richarlison has stated that he has to show his value in a Tottenham shirt amid talk of a switch to Real Madrid. Signed in a £60million deal from Everton last summer, the Brazilian endured a nightmare debut season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a number of injuries disrupting his campaign.

Starring for his country at the 2022 World Cup, where he hit a fine double for Brazil in their tournament opener against Serbia, the goals unfortunately did not flow for him in north London. Scoring a vital brace in their Champions League clash against Marseille at the start of September, the attacker's only other goal came at the end of April after netting a late header in the 4-3 defeat against Liverpool.

Linked with a move to Real Madrid in the past, the 26-year-old was asked about a potential switch to the Santiago Bernabeu during a press conference while on international duty. Admitting that his "dream" is to wear a Real Madrid shirt, Tottenham's No.9 stressed that he has to show Spurs why he was brought to north London in the first price for a hefty transfer fee, which in turn will only benefit Ange Postecoglou if he rediscovers his top form.
