Tottenham news: £52m midfielder eyed as Spurs handed Dejan Kulusevski injury blow before Everton

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Saturday, October 15, as Spurs prepare to host Everton this evening.

£52m star eyed

Spurs have reportedly made contact with Portuguese outfit Sporting to sign central midfielder Manuel Ugarte. That is according to Portuguese outlet Jornal de Noticias, via The Boot Room, who state that Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain have made their move to sign the anchoring midfielder.

However, the price could rise as Ugarte is expected to sign a contract renewal at Sporting, which will see his release clause increase. It currently sits at €60million (£52.1million) but the new deal will make it €80million (£65.5million). The new deal only adds a year to his stay (2027) and offers a slight pay rise but that's not expected to be an issue for Spurs or PSG.

Kulusevski injury latest

Antonio Conte has confirmed that Dejan Kulusevski will not be available for Tottenham's Premier League clash against Everton on Saturday evening.

"We are the same players of the last game. Deki is still not available for the game against Everton. The rest of the players are ok," he explained. "I think we need to have a bit of patience with him. Don’t take stupid risks. Because we have to play a lot of games from now until November.

"It will be very important to recover him very well. At this moment, he’s not 100% sure to be really fit, to be in perfect physical condition. For this reason it’s good to respect the opinion of the doctors of the players."

When Gil could be offered opportunities

Tottenham fans are desperate to see more of Bryan Gil in action after such a bright cameo appearance from the substitutes' bench against Eintracht Frankfurt. Introduced for the final five minutes with the team two goals to the good, the Spaniard did all that was asked of him and seized his rare opportunity with both hands.

So when exactly will Tottenham fans get to see more of Bryan in action?
