Tottenham midfield starlet sends proud message as he signs new deal with the club

Tottenham Hotspur teenager Rio Kyerematen has spoken of his pride at signing his first professional deal with the club.

The England U17 central midfielder put pen to paper this month after turning 17 and following a season in which he made 27 appearances in all competitions for Spurs' U18s last term, scoring seven goals from the midfield and providing four assists for his team-mates.

Kyerematen made three appearances in the FA Youth Cup, and he was also called up by Wayne Burnett to feature once for Tottenham's U23s development squad in the Premier League 2, coming off the bench for 17 minutes in February against Crystal Palace. The youngster has trained with the first team on occasions this season, and he also played his part during England's European U17 Championship qualification campaign, starting regularly and captaining the side during a 1-0 victory against Belarus.

The teenager, who has been at the club since he was eight-years-old, showed his delight with his first professional contract on Instagram with a post saying: "Proud moment for me and my family to sign my first professional contract @spursofficial. All glory to God for guiding me on this journey so far."

Many of Spurs' other talented prospects offered their congratulations, including the likes of Dane Scarlett, Alfie Devine and Jamie Donley, and Kyerematen will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Scarlett and Devine by catching the eye of Conte in the months and years ahead.
