Tottenham: Micky van de Ven drops positive injury return hint ahead of Chelsea clash

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven appears to have a dropped a positive hint ahead of his return from injury.

The Dutchman has missed the last six games across all competitions with a hamstring injury sustained during the 2-1 win over Manchester City in the Carabao Cup back in October.

Van de Ven left the pitch in tears while holding the back of his right leg during the first-half of the victory, sparking fears of a potentially lengthy lay-off. Last season, the 23-year-old missed two months of the season with a similar issue.

Still, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou quickly confirmed the former Wolfsburg centre-back had avoided a serious injury.

The fixtures are now set to pile up thick and fast ahead of the festive period. Spurs travel to Bournemouth on Thursday before playing Chelsea on Sunday, while next week takes them to both Rangers and Southampton.

Spurs have also been without Cristian Romero of late too, robbing Postecoglou of his first-choice central defensive partnership. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is also expected to miss a significant period of action after undergoing ankle surgery, further weakening the Spurs backline.

Van de Ven, however, appears to have offered Postecoglou a welcome boost.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the defender captioned a collage of photos – including some taken while training – “On the way.”

Postecoglou will provide an update on his injured Tottenham players during Wednesday's pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to the Cherries.
