Tottenham make Ryan Mason decision as Swansea City's next boss hunt set for clarity this week

Ryan Mason is set to stay with Tottenham as a member of Ange Postecoglou's staff.

Our colleagues at football.london report Mason, who has been mooted as a candidate to be Russell Martin's replacement as Swansea City boss, will remain in north London to work under the new Spurs manager.

Postecoglou, who officially starts his job on July 1, took a break from his post-season holiday to meet with officials at Tottenham on Friday, football.london report.

Mason was one of those and the 31-year-old is said to have been impressed by the Australian, and as things stand, he will take up a coaching position with the club.

Mason was among the bookies' candidates to replace Southampton-bound Martin in the Swansea dugout next season. The same report states there was interest from the Championship in employing him as a manager.

Chris Davies is understood to be among the leading Swansea contenders, with the former Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester City coach also reportedly under consideration for a position with Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Swansea and Southampton have been in talks for some time now over the compensation package that would see Martin swap south Wales for St Mary's.

The Sun report supporters should get clarity on the situation this week, with Martin's move to get the go-ahead once the Saints are officially relegated at Wednesday's Premier League AGM.

Martin has two different compensation values in his contract, one for an approach from Premier League clubs, believed to be around £1.75million and another for Championship sides, understood to be around £1.25million. The sticking point has been which figure is due, with the clubs having different views.
