Lewes FC manager Tony Russell has confirmed that a bid has been lodged for Tottenham Hotspur target Ollie Tanner.
The north Londoners have been linked with a move for the 19-year-old non-league talent, with The Athletic reporting that they have even submitted an offer for his signature.
It remains to be seen whether the amount Spurs have offered is enough to tempt Lewes to sell their star man, but their manager has already confirmed the bid and suggested that he is looking to secure the best deal for his club.
Speaking to The Athletic after a 2-2 draw against Brightlingsea Regent, he said: “There’s an offer on the table from a Premier League club that came in, which is a really good amount.
“It will come down now to what club he’ll go to rather than if he’ll go. We’re just waiting. One club in particular have been very keen on him and they’ve showed their intent today with an offer.”
He continued: “With so many clubs looking at him and coming back to look at him again, the situation may change. So far, we’ve had at least one formal approach.
“We want to make sure any deal is right for Ollie. There’s no rush. We’re aware there is a transfer window, so we’re bound by that, but we’re not being pushed, we’re not being rushed, we’re taking our time, just making sure we’ve got the right deal for Ollie.
“It’s a lovely situation to be in and it’s a fantastic story, considering he was released by Bromley in the summer and didn’t really have a club.”
Tanner, previously on the books of north London rivals Arsenal, only joined Lewes in the summer having been released by National League outfit Bromley.
Brighton and Hove Albion are also interested in making a move for the young winger and it is suggested that he would favour a move to the Amex Stadium.
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has already expressed his desire to add to his squad ahead of next week's deadline - although any deal for Tanner is likely to see him added to the club’s youth ranks.
Speaking last week, the Italian said: “I know that the transfer window in January is always very difficult and it is more simple when you start the season to buy important players.
“In January, it is not easy but at the same time, we know very well that if there is the opportunity and also if it's not the best opportunity, but we need to do something.
“Also if I repeat that this could not be the best opportunity but I think that we are in a situation where we have to try to improve the squad because the squad is not so big.”
