Tottenham lineup vs Everton: The starting XI we expect to see this afternoon at Goodison Park

The fitness of Erik Lamela could determine whether Christian Eriksen keeps his place for Tottenham’s return to Merseyside.

The Argentine was forced to sit out the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool with a dead leg and Spurs missed his tenacity, as Eriksen struggled in an unfamiliar right-sided role.

Danny Rose will definitely miss the trip through suspension after a fifth booking of the season at Anfield, so Ben Davies is expected to start at left-back and Ryan Sessegnon could be in the squad for the first time.

Mauricio Pochettino’s right-back worries are refusing to go away but the manager seems determined to stick with Serge Aurier regardless of his mistakes — the latest a costly penalty last weekend.

Elsewhere, the Argentine faces decisions in the centre of defence, with Jan Vertonghen pushing for a recall, and in midfield, where Tanguy Ndombele is surely worth starting after a lively cameo against the League leaders.
