Tottenham legend reveals what Antonio Conte must do to beat Arsenal to Champions League spot

Tottenham have been told they must win their remaining home games if they are to have a chance of beating Arsenal to fourth place in the Premier League this season.

Both north London clubs are eyeing a return to Champions League football, but it is Mikel Arteta who currently holds an advantage. The Gunners sit three points clear of Spurs and will still have a game in hand following their clash with Crystal Palace on Monday night.

West Ham and Manchester United will both also still harbour hopes of stealing the spot for themselves, but it is Arsenal and Tottenham who sit in the prettier position ahead of the final weeks of the season. It has been five seasons since the Gunners last competed in the competition with Spurs not playing among Europe's elite since the 2019 final.

Ahead of Spurs' clash with Newcastle on Sunday afternoon, club legend David Ginola gave his thoughts on the tense race. The Frenchman, who also played for the Magpies, insisted that the match was all about Antonio Conte's side and he told the Italian what would be required to overtake their arch rivals.

"They have to win every home game and take as many points as possible," Ginola said during Sky Sports coverage of the game. "Since I arrived at the stadium, people ask me who I am supporting today. Firstly, I support football. Secondly, I think Newcastle are already safe. The game today is about Spurs, if they want to finish in the top four, they have to win.

"It’s going to be a very interesting last few games of the season. Spurs, won’t want to talk about it, but behind the scenes, the manager will still fancy them to make top four."
