Tottenham interim manager Ryan Mason admitted Manchester United caused Spurs problems in the first half of their clash on Thursday night, but praised his side for their reaction to going behind.
Erik ten Hag's side dominated the first half of the Premier League clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the Reds going into the interval with a 2-0 advantage thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford. However, the home side responded well in the second half and managed to get back in the tie.
Spurs pulled a goal back through Pedro Porro in the 56th minute, before Harry Kane and Heung-min Son combined to make it 2-2 with 11 minutes left of normal time. Neither side was able to go on and find a winner, with United dropping below Newcastle in the top-flight table after the Magpies thrashed Everton at Goodison Park.

The Reds were impressive in the opening 45 minutes and were deserving of their lead in the clash. After the game, Mason - who is Spurs' second interim boss of the season - praised Ten Hag's men for their attacking threat, while also lauding his own players for the way they responded to falling 2-0 down.
"They caused us problems in the first half, but I felt we caused them a lot of problems as well," he told BT Sport. "We had our moments, and sometimes in football goals change games. They scored a good goal, their first goal and it just kind of made everyone feel a bit, like... off the back of what happened the other day, there was maybe some doubts in the players' heads.
"But they kept going and I thought they were brave and aggressive in the second half and we played a lot of the game in their half of the pitch, which is very pleasing."
Spurs came into the game having lost 6-1 against Newcastle at the weekend, whereas United had secured their spot in the FA Cup final with a penalty shootout win over Brighton.
While United had the majority of possession in both halves of the match, Spurs were more aggressive in the second half and forced the Reds to play long on a few occasions. The away side only managed two shots on target in the second period, as opposed to six in the opening 45 minutes.
