Tottenham injury update: Dominic Solanke, Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur latest news and return dates

Tottenham are hoping for a triple fitness boost before the trip to Newcastle this coming weekend.

Dominic Solanke leads Spurs’ concerns after an ankle injury kept him out of the win over Everton.

Richarlison was back in the squad for that game, at least, with Pedro Porro fit to play the full 90 minutes. Yves Bissouma also returned.

Joining Solanke on Tottenham’s list of worries is Rodrigo Bentancur due to a concussion, plus Fraser Forster and Will Lankshear. Destiny Udogie was substituted late on with fatigue.

Here is your latest update of Tottenham injury news and return dates...

Dominic Solanke

Solanke picked up an ankle issue in the draw at Leicester which flared up to rule him out against Everton.

Ange Postecoglou said last week that he hopes the injury is minor, but suggested that his return will not come until after the international break.

He said: “Dom picked up a knock in the last game so he got through the game but it flared up the day after, so he'll miss tomorrow.

“It just depends on his recovery [when he returns], obviously we've got the international break, but it's not serious.”

Potential return date: Sunday September 1, vs Newcastle

Destiny Udogie

Postecoglou confirmed after the Everton game that muscle fatigue was down to Udogie’s substitution in the second half.

The manager said: “Destiny was a bit sore.

“Tiredness in both hamstrings and calves. He was really fatigued last week as well and we’re trying to build up his minutes.”

Rodrigo Bentancur

Tottenham were without Rodrigo Bentancur for the visit of Everton on Saturday after he suffered a sickening head injury against Leicester, enacting concussion protocols.

Bentancur appeared to accidentally clash heads with Abdul Fatawu before he slammed into the grass. He received lengthy treatment and subsequently left on a stretcher and received oxygen.

Postecoglou confirmed Bentancur was "conscious and communicating" post-match and the Uruguay midfielder travelled back on the team bus.

“We respect concussion protocols and [with] any head injury we'll always be a little more conservative,” said the head coach. “The good news is he's bounced back really well, done all the tests, but we'll take our time with Rodrigo before putting him back out there.”

Fraser Forster

Forster has returned to first-team training and hopes to be back in the matchday squad before the end of the month.

“Richy and Fraser have got back into training this week and both had a good block of training,” the manager said.

“With another week’s training before the start of the season hopefully, they’ll be in a good place. Everyone else has had a pretty good pre-season.”

Potential return date: September 2024

Will Lankshear

A hamstring injury will reportedly keep the young striker out for a couple of weeks.
