Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has been dealt another major blow following confirmation in his latest injury update that Destiny Udogie has been ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring issue.
Destiny Udogie has been ruled out of action for the next six weeks due to a hamstring issue, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed in his latest injury update, adding to the club’s already lengthy absentee list.
The Italian full-back was forced off clutching the back of his right leg five minutes into the second half of Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Wolves in the Premier League last time out, with Postecoglou since confirming the extent of the issue.
It comes as a major blow to the North Londoners, who are already without Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies, Wilson Odobert, Richarlison, Mikey Moore and Guglielmo Vicario through injury and illness, while recently returned midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is also out through suspension.
Djed Spence, however, is available for this weekend’s clash against Newcastle United, having served his one-match suspension for picking up a red card against Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day.
Tottenham Injury Update: Udogie Ruled Out For Six Weeks
Speaking in his pre-match press ahead of the Magpies’ visit to the English capital on Saturday afternoon, Postecoglou provided the latest Tottenham injury update.
“Destiny [Udogie] with his hamstring looks around six weeks out. We lose Rodrigo Bentancur through suspension. None of the injured lads are back yet. We’ve had a bit of an illness bug running through the camp too so a few have missed training but we’ll be alright.”
The Australian was then quizzed on whether anyone will miss out through illness, to which he responded: “I’m not sure yet, we’ll see.”
He continued, supplying a timeline as to when some of his injured personnel may be able to return: “Richarlison and Mikey [Moore] are the two next cabs off the rank – hopefully next week at some point. Ben [Davies], [Micky] Van de Ven and [Cristian] Romero all kind of the same time which is the back end of January.”

Of course, Tottenham are not only struggling with injuries now, but have done so throughout the entire campaign. Postecoglou touched on what he believes this could be down to.
“I think it is probably a combination of different things. The amount of fixtures, the way we play. I guess the challenging thing for us is that quite a few of our injuries have been re-injuries which is something we’re looking at.
“I don’t think it is unique to us, I think you see it across the board with clubs, but we’ve been hit sort of more extreme. [Guglielmo] Vicario, his isn’t a muscle injury – his is long-term but that kind of exasperates the situation we are in.”
