Tottenham injury news and return date vs Norwich: Harry Kane unwell, food poisoning claim

Tottenham travel to Carrow Road as they face relegated side Norwich on the final day of the Premier League 2021/22 season.

Spurs can secure Champions League football for next season should they draw against the Canaries due to Antonio Conte's side having a far superior goal difference compared to Arsenal. Following back-to-back wins against the Gunners and Burnley last week, Spurs head into the final day two points clear of their north London rivals.

Ahead of Sunday's fixture, a rumour circulated social media suggesting there had been a food poisoning outbreak within the Spurs camp, but this has since been confirmed not to be true. football.london understands Harry Kane is a doubt for the game against Norwich and will be assessed prior to Sunday's game after he felt 'unwell' on Friday, though it is not though to be food poisoning.

The England international trained yesterday and was meant to be at a media event on Friday evening, but pulled out as a precaution. As the race for the top four enters the final day of the 2021/22 Premier League season, football.london takes a look at Spurs’ injury news ahead of the clash against Norwich knowing anything other than a loss will likely guarantee the Lilywhites Champions League football next season.

Harry Kane

Kane reported that he felt 'unwell' on Friday afternoon before pulling out of a media event as a precaution. The England international is set to be assessed ahead of the game against Norwich this weekend.

Expected return: Norwich (A) - 22/05

Cristian Romero

Initial reports were that Romero would miss the remainder of the season after picking up a hip injury in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool two weeks ago, but the Argentine defender could be in line for a return to the matchday squad against Norwich. Romero missed the wins against Arsenal and Burnley, with Davinson Sanchez replacing him in the defence.

Expected return: Norwich (A) - 22/05

Sergio Reguilon

Reguilon played the full 90 minutes during last month's 1-0 defeat at home to Brighton, but has been missing from Spurs' last five matchday squads after picking up a groin injury. The Spanish left-back is unlikely to feature again this season.

Expected return: Pre-Season.

Matt Doherty

Doherty was beginning to establish himself in Conte’s side, before sustaining a knee injury during last month’s 4-0 win at Aston Villa. The 30-year-old was taken off at Villa Park after 20 minutes following a challenge with Matty Cash, and scans later revealed that Doherty had ruptured his medial collateral ligament which ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Expected return: Summer 2022

Oliver Skipp

Skipp hasn’t played for Spurs since January due to an ongoing problem related to his pubic symphysis. Conte had been hopeful that he would be able to call upon the highly-rated 21-year-old before the end of the season, but Skipp will not return to action this season after undergoing surgery.

What the club said: "We can confirm that Oliver Skipp has undergone surgery in America this morning (Tuesday 26 April) to repair a pubis injury and will be out for the remainder of the season. The Academy graduate, 21, will now undergo a period of recovery and is expected to return to training for the pre-season period."

Expected return: Summer 2022

Japhet Tanganga

Tanganga hasn't featured for the Lilywhites since their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea at the end of January due to a knee injury. The 23-year-old subsequently underwent surgery which ruled him out for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.

What the club said: "Japhet Tanganga has undergone surgery on his right knee and will be out for the remainder of the season. The England Under-21 international will undergo a period of recovery and is expected to return to training during the pre-season period."

Expected return: Summer 2022
