Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in 'pole position' to sign Ruslan Malinovskyi in January after Nottingham Forest were previously linked with the Atalanta player.
The Ukraine international was expected to leave the Italian side during the summer transfer window when Spurs were also credited with an interest in the player alongside the Reds. Malinovskyi didn't secure a move away from the Serie A side, though, and has since featured in all but one of the club's matches this season.
After the disappointment of failing to secure a transfer to the Premier League, the attacking midfielder has not hit the same heights as last campaign so far when he scored half a dozen goals and assisted a further five. Just one single strike and a pair of assists were contributed before the World Cup.

Reports in the Italian media from Calciomercato, Gazzetta dello Sport and Sport Mediaset, relayed by Sport Witness, claim that Tottenham are again in the running to sign Malinovskyi and 'expected to hold talks' with Atalanta. It is also added that the player will once more be made available during the upcoming transfer window, as was the case in the summer, with Spurs said to have the money to make a move happen and convert their 'pole position' into a completed transfer.
Tottenham beat Forest to the signing of former loanee Djed Spence during the summer transfer window. The player has made just four appearances and has recently removed any reference to the club from his Instagram account.
