Tottenham are in talks with Club Brugge over a deal to sign the 18-year-old winger Antonio Nusa. The Norwegian is one of the most exciting young prospects and Brugge want £25m and to keep him on loan for the rest of the season.

The Belgian club are looking to maximise Nusa’s value and turned down a bid from Chelsea for the youngster last summer. Chelsea have maintained an interest in the Norway international but would have to work hard to overtake Spurs in the race to sign him. Spurs have been tracking Nusa for a while and have taken positive steps towards ensuring they are in pole position to complete the deal.

Nusa has become an important player for Brugge this season and marked his international debut by scoring in Norway’s 6-0 win over Jordan last September. Last season he became the second-youngest goalscorer in Champions League history, at 17 years and 149 days when he scored against Porto. Nusa predominantly plays on the left but is capable of operating on the right or through the middle.

Spurs have been busy this month. They have signed the Romania defender Radu Dragusin and added the Germany forward Timo Werner on loan. Spurs have let Ivan Perisic join Hajduk Split on loan until the end of the season, which takes him to the end of his contract. The 34-year-old Croat played for the club’s academy as a teenager.
