Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City LIVE: Premier League latest score, goals and updates from fixture

A general view of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - (Getty Images)

Follow live coverage as Tottenham Hotspur face Manchester City today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Tottenham Hotspur FC 0 - 1 Manchester City FC

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

20:05

Danso gives away a free-kick in a very dangerous area for a foul on Marmoush, and the Egyptian will fancy this. He hit the bar from a set-piece to assist Fernandez against Real Madrid in the Champions League, what can he do here?

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

20:04

CHANCE! How many do City need to make it two!? Savinho got away well down the right, and as he cut inside he shaped to shoot. He took far too long to get the effort away, and it was eventually blocked by a Spurs body. They’re all over Spurs!

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

20:02

WHAT A SAVE! Haaland’s close-range effort is saved! Vicario has single-handedly kept the game at 1-0! It was a similar position to the Norwegian’s goal, but this time he lifted the shot off the ground, and Vicario stuck out a big hand to save.

Yellow Card Rodrigo Bentancur Colmán

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

20:01

Doku has been electric so far in this half, he is the only player on the pitch who looks like he’s up for the game! He was rather unlucky not to be credited with the assist for the goal, and he should’ve had one there!

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:59

WHAT A MISS! Savinho fails to make it 2-0 from a mere few yards out! It was a blinder of a ball from Doku right into the danger area, and Savinho hit the left-footed effort into the ground and over the bar! They could regret that!

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:58

Other than the goal from City, this match has been quite a tame encounter. There are still 20 minutes left in this half, but neither side can seem to find their rhythm at the moment.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:55

Haaland is just the second player to score 20+ goals in each of his first three Premier League seasons, after Ruud van Nistelrooy (between 2001-02 and 2003-04). We are beginning to run out of superlatives to describe this man, he is a ridiculously good goalscorer.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:53

Spurs try to go forward again and Tel is grounded by Dias on the break. There were calls for a foul on the Frenchman, but the play continued.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:51

Despite going behind, Spurs have responded relatively well and they don’t look too phased. They are still playing their football, and the ball has been in the City half for a decent amount of time since the opener.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:50

Tottenham get themselves a corner after a nice bit of play by Odobert out on the left. Savinho managed to hook the ball clear from the corner before any further danger could ensue.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:47

Tottenham have a record of W3, D1, L8 when conceding the opening goal in the Premier League this season. That’s a worrying stat when you’ve just conceded a goal to the reigning champions inside 15 minutes!

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:46

After such a lively start, Spurs find themselves behind once again, and they have a lot of work to do already if they want to get anything from this match. That will be an early hammer blow for the home side.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:43

Goal Erling Braut Haaland

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:41

Doku does very well to smash Porro out of his way as he battled for the ball, and he eventually won the tussle. His pass into the box let him down massively, and Spurs were able to clear before the danger got worse.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:39

Right on cue, Haaland gets a shot on target away as he leant back inside the box. His shot was rather tame by his standards, and Vicario saved with no fuss.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:38

The game has an air of nervousness to it, perhaps the pre-conceptions of this match-up has made the players take it easy inside the opening minutes. Nothing major to report so far.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:37

City are doing a good job of robbing Spurs of possession high up the field, we just saw Marmoush rush in to nick the ball away from Udogie, but he was unable to capitalise with his final pass.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:34

Tottenham are the side that have started better, as they have spent a good amount of time in and around City’s third. They are yet to do anything with the possession, but it’s a lively start.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:31

KICK-OFF! Jarred Gillett blows his whistle for the first time here, and the game is underway!

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:29

The teams are out on the pitch, and we’re nearly ready for kick-off here in London!

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:24

Ange Postecoglou names Spurs’ youngest starting XI in a Premier League match since 1992 as he opts for energy over experience. Three teenagers begin the game with Gray, Bergvall and Tel all given the nod against the reigning champions. Odobert starts in attack for the first time since coming back from his injury, and Maddison captains the home side. For City, they have been given a huge boost by the return of Haaland up front, this has caused Marmoush to drop slightly deeper meaning there is no room for Foden and De Bruyne in the starting lineup. Nunes begins the game at right-back, with Kovacic and Fernandez taking the midfield spots. Dias captains the away side.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:24

Manchester City continue to have a tough time this season, but despite that, they remain fifth in the table. It goes without saying that for a club of their stature, it’s not an ideal situation to be in, but they can still salvage their season with a good run of form in the next few weeks. They come into this game on the back of a huge loss to Liverpool where they were defeated 2-0 at home. That result effectively gave Liverpool one hand on the Premier League trophy as the season rumbles on towards its conclusion. Will City be able to control this game and get a big three points against a notoriously tough opponent, or will they crumble once again in this torrid season they’re having?

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:14

Tottenham come into this game on the back of a convincing 4-1 win away at Ipswich, slightly easing pressure on many who are involved with the club. Goals from Brennan Johnson (x2), Djed Spence and Dejan Kulusevski rounded off what was a comfortable win against the Suffolk strugglers. After being knocked out of both the EFL Cup and the FA Cup, that was their second win in a week, following their 1-0 victory against Manchester United. They will know that they are up against an out-of-form City side here, but their quality remains, and Ange Postecoglou will want to keep his side moving up the table.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

19:08

This fixture often turns into a classic whenever these sides meet, with Tottenham finding joy in the majority of recent meetings. In the last 10 games between these sides, Tottenham won five of them, with one draw as well, which is an impressive record against a side that dominated English football during a lot of them. They also won the last meeting 4-0 away from home and will look to complete the double for the season here. Will City succumb to their bogey team once more, or will Spurs’ struggles continue this season?
