I’ll leave you with David Hytner’s report. Watch out for another edition of Football Weekly later tonight too. Thanks for joining, goodnight.

Updated

Elsewhere tonight Newcastle ran riot again to leave Everton deep in trouble while Bournemouth won the south-coast derby to put another nail in Southampton’s coffin at the bottom. Check out the match reports …

Full time: Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 Manchester United

Peep! Peep! Peeeeeeeeep! It’s all over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, whewre the hosts have fought back from a two-goal half-time deficit to rescue a point courtesy of goals from Pedro Porro and Heung-min Son.

Manchester United finish the evening in fourth place, two points behind Newcastle having played one game fewer. Tottenham are fifth, six points off the Top Four pace, having played two games more than Manchester United.

Updated

90+4 min: Manchester United win a corner, a Fred shot going wide after taking a deflection off Dier’s heels. Nothing comes from the set piece.

90+3 min: Luke Shaw stands the ball up at the far post, trying to pick out a Casemiro run. The Brazilian leaps and connects but is unable to keep his header down.

90 min: If this finishes all square, a draw is probably a fair result. Manchester United, it could be argued, threw away all three points by letting Tottenham back into the game due in no smnall part through some weird substitutions on Erik Ten Hag’s part. Spurs do, however, deserve credit for mounting a somewhat stirring second half performance after being booed off at half-time.

88 min: Tottenham substitution: Japhet Tanganga on for Son.

85 min: There’s a VAR check for a possible Manchester United penalty as Anthony Martial goes down under a challenge of sorts from Kulusevski. No spot-kick.

84 min: Marcus Rashford tries his luck from distance but can’t keep the ball down. Over the bar.

GOAL! Tottenham 2-2 Manchester United (Son 79)

Spurs equalise! Harry Kane advances down the inside right chasing a ball from deep and curls a low cross around two defenders towards the far post. Son’s contact is far from clean but he somehow manages to scuff the ball across David De Gea and inside the far post. They all count!

Updated

78 min: Tottenham have been in the ascendency in this second half and ought to have at least restored parity were it not for a couple of atrocious misses by Son and Dier. They look the more likely goalscorers as we approach the final 10 minutes but are of course, liable to leave themselves open to counter-attacks the more they go in search of an equaliser.

76 min: Pedro Porro squares the ball across the face of the Manchester United penalty area and Casemiro intercepts, before clearing. Tottenham substitutions: Arnaud Danjuma and Ben Davies on for Pedro Porro and Ivan Persisic.

75 min: Christian Romero tees up Harry Kane, who sends a low drive straight at David De Gea.

74 min: Already on a yellow card, Victor Lindelof somehow avoids a second one for a cynical, late tackle on Son. Extreme leniency from refereeing’s Anthony Taylor, there.

72 min: Manchester United substitutions: Tyrell Malacia and Wout Weghorsat on for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Antony.

68 min: Incredible! Ivan Perisic puts a cross on a plate for Eric Dier and completely unmarked from six yards out, the Tottenham defender sends his downwards header wide of the upright. Scoring would have been a lot easier.

Updated

67 min: Kane plays Kulusevski in behind down the inside right but the Swedish international pulls his shot across the face of goal and wide of the far post.

66 min: Son squanders a glorious opportunity to equalise. Harry Kane curls a cross his way from the right and with the goal at his mercy and the ball at his feet, Son shoots across the face of goal and horribly wide.

64 min: Martial advances on the Tottenham penalty area from the right and plays the ball to where he thinks Anthony Martial ought to be. The recently introduced substitute has other ideas and the pair’s crossed wires allow Tottenham to clear.

62 min: Tottenham substitution: Dejan Kulusevski on for Richarlison. Manchester United substitutions: Fred and Anthony Martial on for Christian Eriksen and Jadon Sancho.

61 min: Tottenham corner. Romero fails to connect properly with Porro’s inswinger at the near post.

60 min: Victor Lindelof is booked for a cynical foul on Harry Kane.

58 min: With a soft-shoe shimmy, Bruno Fernades dances past Eric Dier, nutmegging the defnder on the edge of the penalty area to find himself clean through on goal with only Fraser Forster to beat. He smashes the ball off the cross-bar and that is a quite astonishing miss.

GOAL! Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Manchester United (Porro 56)

Porro pulls one back for Spurs! Perisic sends a cross in from the left and picks out Kane, whose shot is blocked. The ball breaks to Pedro Porro, who sends a beautiful volley fizzing past Forster from distance.

53 min: Ivan Perisic swings a cross towards the far post from the left but it’s a poor delivery. Despite his best attempts, Pedro Porro is unable to prevent the ball from going out for a goal kick.

49 min: Clement Lenglet beats David De Gea to a dinked cross and sends his header looping off the cross-bar. Free-kick for Manchester United, for a Richarlison shove in the back of their goalkeeper.

Updated

48 min: Son advances towards the Manchester United penalty area but hits a weak, low daisycutter that’s easily cut out by Victor Lindelof.

Updated

47 min: Tottenham win two corners in quick succession early in this second half but nothing comes of either.

Second half: Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 Manchester United

46 min: Tottenham get the bnall rolling, their hopes of a top four finish evaporating on this April evening. They’re two down, while Newcastle are 2-0 up away at Everton.

Half-time: Tottenham 0-2 Manchester United

Peep! The half-time whistle is greeted by a chorus of boos from the home fans, who have seen their side completely dominated in the opening 45 minutes. United lead courtesy of goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, while Spurs have been ponderous and meek, while looking completely bereft of confidence.

45+1 min: It was Bruno Fernandes who picked out Rashford with a long ball from the Manchester United left-back area. The ball sailked over Dier’s head and despite him having a decent head-start over Rashford, there waso nly ever going to be one winner. Rashford advanced towards the left side of the penalty area and promptly fired past Forster.

GOAL! Tottenham 0-2 Manchester United (Rashford 44)

United double their lead! Mere seconds after Spurs go close through Perisic, Marcus Rashford collects a long ball from deep, takes it away from Eric Dier and spanks it past Fraser Forster. So easy.

43 min: Ivan Perisic sends a rising drive straight at David De Gea, who saves well.

42 min: Marcus Rashford recceives a pass from Eriksen, advances and puts his laces through the ball. Forster saves.

41 min: After combining with Kane, Hojbejerg squares the ball across the face of the Manchester United goal and not for the first time, there’s nobody around to finish a decent move.

39 min: Bruno Fernades picks out Rashford with a delightful dink towards the far post. Peeling away from Lenglet, Rashford tries to steer a volley goalwards but Forster was lightning quick off his line to deny him.

35 min: Under extreme pressure from Casemiro, Richarlison still manages to square the ball across the Manchester United penalty area. There isn’t a sinner in a white shirt on hand to poke the ball goarwards and Diogo Dalot mops up.

33 min: Manchester United’s fans are serenading Harry Kane with a rendition of “We’ll see you in June! We’ll see you in June! Harry Kane, we’ll see you in June!”

31 min: Tottenham corner. Pedro Porro hugely overhits his delivery and the ball bounces wide.

29 min: From the corner, Perisic steers a header on target but David De Gea tips the ball clear.

Updated

28 min: Richarlison does good work combining with Hojbjerg down the left touchline and finds himself bearing down on goal with only David De Gea to beat. Instead of shooting himself, he inexplicably elects to try to pick out Pedro Porro at the far post, but his cross is intercepted by Luke Shaw. Woeful.

27 min: The corner is one off the training ground and … well, probably should have stayed there for another session or two before being showcased in public.

25 min: Bruno Fernandes shoots from distance and his swerving shot is put out for a corner by Fraser Forster, who probably could have done better and caught the ball.

23 min: A Bruno Fernandes shot from a very tight angle is blocked out for a corner by Christian Romero. Luke Shaw sends the ball towards the edge of the six-yard box, where Tottenham clear.

18 min: Ivan Perisic heads one off his own line as Manchester United threaten to double their lead. United carved open the Tottenham defence with alarming ease, Antony advancing towards goal after getting the better of the Croat.

United played the ball from right to left: Antony on to Fernades and on to Sancho. His first effort was blocked and his second, on the follow up, took a deflection off Porro and was goalbound, only for Perisic to clear with his head.

17 min: A Richarlison cross from the byline is cut out by David De Gea before it can get anywahere near Harry Kane, who the Brazilian was trying to find.

15 min: Clement Lenglet tries to pick out a Son run through the centre with a long ball from deep. Luke Shaw is on hand to cut the ball out before it can reach its intended target.

14 min: Son sticks out a leg to poke a loose ball into the path of Richarlison, cantering up the inside-left. He cuts inside and shoots straight at David De Gea. Offside.

13 min: Rashford takes the free-kick, whipping the ball a couple of yards wide of the far upright. Forster had it covered, even if it had threatened to creep in.

Updated

11 min: Rashford wins a free-kick on the back of a late tackle from Eric Dier. Free-kick for Manchester United, about 30 yards out, straight in front of the Spurs goal.

9 min: That Sancho opener was quite similar to Newcastle’s opener against Tottenham on Sunday. On that occasion it was Joelinton who cut inside to shoot, only for Hugo Lloris to parry his effort to the feet of Jacob Murphy.

GOAL! Tottenham 0-1 Manchester United (Sancho 7)

Manchester United lead! The marking is non-existent as Marcus Rashford skips a tackle in midfield and picks out Sancho with a ball out wide to the left. With defenders backing off him, he cuts inside while advancing and then arrows a low diagonal effort into the far corner.

6 min: Porro picks up the ball out wide on the right again, advances, cuts inside and runs into ttraffic. Manchester United clear their lines.

5 min: Pedro Porro sends Son in behind with a nice ball down the inside right but the South Korean’s attempted cross hits the first man.

3 min: Casemiro sends an up-and-under towards Marcus Rashford, who is penalised for offside as he attempts to leave his markers trailing in his wake.

2 min: Richarlison lines up on the left-hand side of Harry Kane, with Heung-min Son on the right, a mildly intriguing state of affairs as you’d expect their roles to be reversed.

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United is go ...

1 min: Manchester United get the ball rolling and almost immediately win a free-kick just inside their own half.

Not long now: It’s a filthy, dirty evening in North London, where the players of Tottenham and Manchester United are lined up in the tunnel of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. They make their way out on to the pitch, where they line up either side of Anthony Taylor and his team of match officials for the last of the pre-match formalities. Kick-off is just a couple of minutes away.

Erik Ten Hag: The Manchester United manager has put his solitary change this evening (Sancho in for Martial) down to a rotation issue. “We have to manage [Anthony Martial’s] load,” he tells BT Sport. “That’s one thing. Another thing is Jadon is doing very well, Martial is also doing well, but we have to choose and can choose from a tactical perspective. So for today, we make this choice, but Sunday we can do different – with the number of games we have to play and [games] we have in our legs already, we have to rotate a bit.” Ten Hag also said Harry Maguire is not in tonight’s squad because he picked up an injury in training.

Eric Dier: In an interview with BT Sport, the Tottenham defender talks up Ryan Mason’s qualities as interim manager by saying “he knows the club inside-out and he knows the players very well”.

Uh-oh! Aren’t these the very qualities that earned Frank Lampard the Chelsea interim manager’s job?

Those teams: Bruno Fernandes has been passed fit to play in Manchester United’s midfield, despite fears he might miss out with an ankle injury. Erik ten Hag makes just one change from the team that beat Brighton at Wembley on Sunday, with Jadon Sancho coming in for Anthony Martial. Harry Maguire is absent from the match day squad, despite being available after suspension.

Ryan Mason makes three changes to the Tottenham side that disgraced themselves during the opening 20 minutes at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon. Fraser Forster replaces the injured Hugo Lloris in goal, while Clement Lenglet comes in to a back five, with midfielder Pape Sarr making way. Further upfield, Richarlison starts in place of Dejan Kulusevski.

The Brazilian has yet to score a Premier League goal for Tottenham and has not found the net for his side since scoring twice in a Champions League game against Marseille in early September. They remain his only goals for the club.

Tottenham Hotspur: Forster; Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Porro, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Perisic; Richarlison, Kane, Son

Substitutes: Austin, Sanchez, Danjuma, Kulusevski, Tanganga, Moura, Sarr, Davies, Mundle

Manchester United: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Shaw, Dalot; Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes; Antony, Rashford, Sancho

Substitutes: Butland, Martial, Sabitzer, Fred, Weghorst, Pellistri, Williams, Elanga

Early team news

Manchester United are without Lisandro Martinez, Donny van de Beek, Raphael Varane and Scott McTominay, who all remain unavailable. Winger Alejandro Garnacho is also sidelined with the ankle injury that has kept him out for the past six weeks. Midfielder Bruno Fernandes is also a doubt with an ankle injury he picked up against Brightoon but was due to undergo a late fitness test.

While Ryan Sessegnon, Rodrgio Bentancur and Yves Bissouma are all out for Spurs, their own only new injury concerns is Hugo Lloris, who was forced off at half-time in the match against Newcastle with a hip injury. Quite how much a loss the French goalkeeper would constitute is open to debate but Fraser Forster will start in his place should he miss out.

Premier League: Tottenham Hotspur v Man United

Following their weekend humiliation at the hands of Newcastle, the players of Tottenham are unlikely to receive the warmest of welcomes from their fans as they return to their own manor in a bid to make reparations. Spurs will line up tonight hoping to arrest a run of back-to-back Premier League embarrassments and get their increasingly forlorn, but not entirely extinguished hopes of a top four finish back on track.

With Cristian Stellini having been shown the door on the back of that fiasco at St James’ Park, there’s a new interim manager in town and he comes in the form of Ryan Mason, previously the assistant to the former interim boss. He takes charge of this evening’s game against a Manchester United side who are also capable of producing their own horror shows, most recently their Europa League defeat at the hands of Sevilla this day last week.

While United put that disaster behind them with narrow victory over Brighton in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, a win tonight would see them leapfrog Newcastle into third place, cementing their own Top Four credentials in the process. Kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is at 8.15pm (BST), but stay tuned in the meantime for team news and build-up.
