"Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will be undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder today (Wednesday) and will return following a period of recuperation.
"Everyone at the Club wishes him well."
Cholecystitis is a condition whereby the gallbladder is inflamed. Recovery from gallbladder removal surgery can range from 2-8 weeks depending on the severity of the injury and the type of job that the person does.
It is unclear when Conte will return to the sidelines. However, it is almost certain that he will be absent from the dugout when Spurs take on Manchester City in the Premier League this Sunday.
The North London club will be hoping for a speedy recovery as they have a hectic schedule ahead of them which will see them play eight games, including a Champions League tie with AC Milan, in a little over four weeks.
