Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Cristian Romero did not train with the Tottenham squad on Tuesday morning ahead of their Champions League clash with Sporting Lisbon.

Hojbjerg (thigh) and Romero (calf) missed Sunday’s defeat to Newcastle with minor muscle injuries but look set to miss out again.

Richarlison (calf) and Dejan Kulusevski (hamstring) also remain sidelined, although the Swede is hopeful of returning soon after stepping up work in the gym.

Antonio Conte has previously suggested Kulusevski may not play again for the World Cup, telling reporters: “His recovery was going well and then one day the situation worsened. When this type of situation happens, you have to restart. You need time.

“We have the medical department to face injuries and they have to solve the situation in a short period because if they do, it means points in the table.”

Spurs are aiming to bounce back from consecutive League defeats to Manchester United and Newcastle.
